Captain Artemis
So, I have been thinking about using transfers. (Never been bothered really to put transfers on my models, as I have quite a simple yet effective table-top standard.)What is a good easy way to apply transfers effectivly on my Space Marines? :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/271946-transfers/ Share on other sites
Guest
Micro Set and Micro Sol are a must for Transfers. This video will help you soo much . Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/271946-transfers/#findComment-3315196 Share on other sites
tiberius183
Micro Sol and set, yes. Also, this is optional but it does help, apply a gloss coat to the area that you're going to be applying the transfer. It actually helps it go on smoother and lessens any air bubbles. After its dried, apply another coat of gloss over it to seal it, then a flat coat to dull it. It really does work wonders. when I posted my first mini using it, a lot of people commented on the tranfer. no shiney effect or noticeable edge. etc. just make sure you do it before your matte sealer! here is a pic of what I mean. http://i1093.photobucket.com/albums/i438/furioso-prime/darkangels001-2.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/271946-transfers/#findComment-3316205 Share on other sites
ZombyWoof
After micro-setting the decal on the model, I put it in front of a hair dryer (low fan, high heat) for at least 2-3 minutes. Then I press my fingertip down onto the decal and slowly roll it back and forth. Then I brush on the micro-sol and let the model sit overnight. Captain Artemis
Is it hard to apply transfers on Shoulder Pads? As the have a really round surface... Adeptus-Alaska
not particularly. just trim close to the transfer and bob's yer uncle. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/271946-transfers/#findComment-3317444 Share on other sites
Freakiq
Micro sol can be substituted for white wine vinegar. Much cheaper and does the same thing which is making the decal softer. WarriorFish
That's interesting, I've heard much of the micro sol but I've never seen any for sale anywhere so alternatives are worth a shot (especially cheaper ones!). I'll give it a go next I'm putting some transfers on, it's not like anyone is short of transfer sheets to experiment on :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/271946-transfers/#findComment-3317549 Share on other sites
