KnightCommander_Almaric
Hello Brothers, My Flesh Tearer Army is taking shape now, it now has the following: 20x ASM 20x Tac Marines 5x Devastators 5x DeathCompany 5x Sanguariy Guard 5x Honour Guard 1x Stormraven, 1x LRR, 2x Rhino/Razor's , 1 Vindi My problem is HQ models. I want a Librarian & Apothecary to go with JP Assault Squads, however i dont know which model looks best with the JP's on. so brothers, which model do you think is the best suited to having a JP or should i go for making one of my own? Chaplain Admetus
It partly depends how you want to outfit him, due to weapon choice (axe, sword and staff all being different now) - of the 3 GW ones, I think the one with the Force Sword is the most appropriately posed for a jump pack model. I personally converted mine from the death company box, and think he looks a tad more dynamic, but can never quite shake the feeling that he's just an assault sergeant painted blue. KJB
Sevrin Loth from Forge World, greatest librarian model ever made... http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Space_Marines/Red_Scorpions/MAGISTER_SEVRIN_LOTH-CHIEF-LIBRARIAN-OF-THE-RED-SCORPIONS-WITH-HONOUR-GUARD.html Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/272104-ba-librarian-model-which-to-choose/#findComment-3317689 Share on other sites
Ushtarador
The models from GW are really horrible in my opinion :/ I scratchbuilt mine using DC bits, a robed BT breastplate (the one to the left I think http://www.spikeybits.com/media/12/a2079181332e43808275a7_l.JPG ) and a head with a cowl ( http://www.bitzbox.co.uk/images/dark_angels_head_6_large.jpg ), then gave him a GK halberd. Looks very cool and stands out The libby from dark vengeance look awesome as well, you just have to get rid of the DA bling. TheSauce
Yeah I converted a DV libby. Jump pack fits fine on him after a little modification, and he's an awesome model. Brother Maikel
You could also nab the back half of a Power Armoured GK torso and marry it to a BA chestplate. I think they're compatible. Then you'd have a bulit-in psychic hood and could assemble the rest of the model however you wanted. tomjoad
I've been having a similar quandary lately. The GW options are pretty awful, and Loth is awesome, but at $50+shipping, that's far too pricey. Does anybody know of any non-GW/FW companies making decent Librarian options. Al I usually see are Nazi Orks and Razorback turrets on the 3rd party miniature makers. CaptainDarius
I'm using the DV librarian. I shaved off the DA icon from the front, removed the left shoulder pad and used another from the sanguinary guard kit (I think). I magnetised the left arm so I can use and axe or something later on. The jump pack is from the DC kit and also magnetised so I can use a normal backpack.I'm pretty happy with it. nurglespuss
Yeah I would go with the DV one, I've picked up one myself to convert. i'm quite a big fan of the Tigurius model to convert as well. tomjoad
I have next to zero modelling experience, but that doesn't look like too much...something OK to make my first attempt, anyway. Thank you. And I have a metal Tigurius that I'm using now...let me tell you, the Ultramarines have some models I love, but they are all COVERED in the "U" logo. Too much effort to get those off of pewter. Venerable Jazzman
Sevrin Loth from Forge World, greatest librarian model ever made... I have to disagree, this was the greatest librarian ever Certainly the most brutal one I ever made. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v110/fatjazzer/new_librarian05.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/272104-ba-librarian-model-which-to-choose/#findComment-3320960 Share on other sites

Father Mapple
I used the Sanguinary Guard head that has a "Halo" around a normal Mark VII helmet as my Psychic Hood stand in. The rest of the bits are the Death Co./Sang Guard stuff, with a standard BA shoulder on one side. I also used "wings" painted in a ghostly-white color to represent the "wings of sanguinus" power Mephiston had since when I made the model power weapons all were the same. I can't overstate how important it is just painting them blue sets them apart from the rest of the army. My guy wouldn't look any different from another veteran/artificer type of model if it wasn't for the blue and copper/gold making him look instantly recognizable as an HQ compared to the rest of the army that's red and black. If I was playing an Ultramaring army, maybe I'd need a "more librarian" look, but painting him blue and giving him a jump pack lets everyone know in a BA army he's a librarian. redhorse
AS far GW models, I think one of the coolest one's around is the model for Ezekiel. I have him as my on foot Librarian. The Yncarne
I was inspired by an old librarian. I built something similar with some simple plastic bits. It pales compared to those here.
