Danny Cyanide
Thanks, It looks great! I think I'll give it a try! What reds did you use? I'm doing a Night Lords Storm Eagle, and I really like the colouring you achieved!
Palak
Thanks, It looks great! I think I'll give it a try! What reds did you use? I'm doing a Night Lords Storm Eagle, and I really like the colouring you achieved! On top of my head, I first get a white layer as base if I had other colors there. Then I use mahogany and then fire red for highlights and that's it. Hope it will help you, so I can see the results on your Storm Eagle. :)
Captain Semper
 This is fantastic work Palak! And to think the Caestus was initially an unloved model... Your work with the blues and the reds is top notch - but waht I really like is the wear: visible yet measured! Suffice to say I'll be eagerly waiting your other super-heavies! Keep it up! :tu:

Thank you, it always nice to see what people think of the work one is making. Because I think we're never that objective when it comes to something we do ourselves, there is too much pride evolve when you do something with your own hands. So tonight I don't have much to show because I'm currently waiting for some paint to get delivered so for now I'm a bit blocked. But anyway I tried something on the Magna-melta. First time trying OSL, and as you can see, having an old camera and seeing nothing while taking a shot is really not helpfull for the community, but nobody will say I don't share http://imageshack.us/a/img802/197/dscn0576m.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img46/7237/dscn0577d.jpg And here what I'm currently working on http://imageshack.us/a/img824/579/dscn0581e.jpg I just realized that I forgot one piece at the back of the turret, I'll fix that tomorrow, but for now it's time to sleep and maybe see my death under minis like Curze's curse. Palak
Here my Caestus is finally done! We all have excuses when it comes to avoiding our paiting so I'll pass on the why I didn't paint in a while. So here's the pictures : http://imageshack.us/a/img844/659/img0430nb.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img607/1838/sta0431.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img716/627/img0433yp.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img401/9472/img0435en.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img13/1885/img0436cw.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img197/7707/img0438i.JPG I wasn't really satisfied with the gold, so I decided to go with more of a copper color so it doesn't stand out as much and blend more in the model. For the propulsion part, I went with a steel reactor with my first OSL (didn't turn out so well) but I'm not sure if I should keep it this way or go for the blue tone like the rest of the model, got some opinions on that guys? batu
Really great work mate. Yeah, the OSL could be better, but I have no skills regarding this.
DuskRaider
Looks wonderful! I think you should make the reactor blue as well, though. It would blend in better in night ops and isn't as much of a bullseye.
Febelcrofas
Mate that ram is unbelievable! How was that your first go with an airbrush! You make me sick (in a good way) ;)
Palak
With the comming of Massacre, and an objective for my painting (Heresy tournament in November) my army will soon get painted up I working since yesterday on my first assault squad. And it envolved a lot of swearing while airbrusing cause I prepared some big paintpot for my mixes to do my whole army. But what I didn't plan is that the last pot, with the lighter color, would be too thick so I would end up with small dots of lighter color around my highlights, great... Anyway, some WIP shot http://imageshack.us/a/img855/1433/mfd4.jpg Cause I wasn't so sure of my color scheme for the weapon, I tried some different combinaisons (I like the brown/bone one, and I'm desapointed by the red one) http://imageshack.us/a/img203/3111/i1mk.jpg Btw, I decided to have my first experience with pigments. First, I've been toying with my airbrush to have 5 identical bases. I then added the pigments with differents colors on each of them to give me an idea of the colors and the finish result. The first base is just after airbrush for reference. I got to say I'm quite desapointed with the results, the pigments screwed up my airbrush work, I can't see nothing of what I did previously... http://imageshack.us/a/img51/8745/zzwe.jpg Some advices to help me improve or fix my problems? PS : I also realized later that the configuration of my Sergeant is not good, the heavy chainsword is not an option for him in assault squad... Palak
Finished my assault squad today. The picture is too light cause I couldn't figure out a way to put my light correctly for the picture. http://imageshack.us/a/img6/6094/ws9n.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img7/2513/t85h.jpg

Punk possum
They do indeed look great I particularly like your lightning. I'm guessing you are waiting on some mkIV legion bits or is there another reason they are off to battle with only one pauldron?

I'm guessing you are waiting on some mkIV legion bits or is there another reason they are off to battle with only one pauldron? That's exactly the case. I will get them with my next order when Massacre will be available. I tried to get better pictures for the colors, that's why I asked my gf for help http://heresy30k.invisionzone.com/public/style_emoticons/default/laugh.png http://imageshack.us/a/img546/4320/60sl.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img809/8756/73yt.jpg And here is what I'm working at the moment http://imageshack.us/a/img163/6948/eir0.jpg I want to try keeping them a bit dark (you know stealthy and stuff). That's why I tried this kind of dark metallic on the top part. For the bottom part, i think I might go with a copper still engine but not so sure. Have an idea? Hyaenidae
Trophies. And the Winged Skull of Nostromo. And brass chains. And foes crucified to their hulls. and blood splatters. and more trophies. On a side note, I'm digging the lightning patterns you got going. Very subtle. Palak
Here the headless squad. I will come back on them to do some dirty dirty weathering later when my force will grow to a satisfactory level (if that can happen one day) http://imageshack.us/a/img844/7554/nlb2.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img834/4049/x7g0.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img600/8359/j37p.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img90/5452/eq5h.jpg

Palak
I really like the copper on your jetbikes engines, what paint did you use? It's Vallejo Liquid Copper, pretty hard to paint with (need to mix with alcool) but the color is like something I never find anywhere else. Actually, I've been progressing quite a lot on the NL Legion (I will give more update soon) here some sneak pics : http://imageshack.us/a/img404/3554/ofdh.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img29/3474/3bzn.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img545/1586/9jd2.jpg
Booyah
Hiho, first of all I really like your Night Lords especially (?) the power weapons. They give a nice contrast to the blue armour. Now to your question on using pigments. I always use them mixed with water on bases. Just mix ALL reds for example, that you want on your base together with water. Sounds strange but trust me they will separate while drying, leaving a varity of colours on your base. After that you can move the pigemts around with a wet brush to get them where you want them to be. You can also use an old brush and brush over the base hard to get some of that "dust" off your base again, I´m using an old brush with hard bristles for that kinda work. This also works on armour or where ever you want it, after all it´s just paint, you can always get rid of it or paint it over. Hope this helps a little. -Boo-
