A possible daemon death star

@Gentlemanloser: that rock-paper-scissors-theme comes up a lot lately, mostly around the horde/aircav/mech-divide. Speaks of design intent =/

I expected CSM lists with 2+ heldrakes to do good (actually, that is one reason I don't think the dex is great), but the beast list did indeed suprise me (or rather, surprisingly attested a suspicion) - which is positive, because it inspires me to try something similar and work out tech-spawn concepts for my Iron Warriors. Still, C:CSM doesn't live up to my expectations outside of the FA choices, and the HH Legion list (albeit arguably even less powerful) offers more tools for my kind of trade.

I didn't have the privilege of getting a game in with daemons yet, and I don't particularily feel a need for it either. I mostly used the old daemons to represent dark mechancum creations and the newfound randomness doesn't really fit that theme, so until I find unexpected inspiration, I am content to enjoy further reports, interpret and discuss.

I agree with ya that the codex feels a bit bland, wish it had more of a soul.

There are things in there that are starting to get noticed that work (Mutilators, Spawn) so our options are growing a little as time goes on but unfortunately the Heldrake being the ONLY flyer gives us not much of an option in most of our games.

How rock paper scissors should work militarily:

Tanks beat infantry through machineguns and armour plate

Infantry beats planes through Stingers and being small targets

Planes beat tanks through missiles and moving too fast to hit.

A crap design intent.

You can't form an army that has all three options, so you have to specialise.

You're one of the three.

And if you're Paper, and face three Scissors armies during a tournament.  Well...

You mean single deepstriking nurgle mutilators?

I always heard people talking about it, but never seen any battle reports using them. How did they work out for you?

I use them fairly often actually, they really throw people for a loop and threaten stuff they really do not want to be in CC.

Total and complete agreement with this, it can (not always) feel like you agree to a game, find out what you are playing against and (in this ed WAY more than any other) might as well pack up your stuff and leave if you didn't write the right list. It only happens vs certain lists but with the prevalence of net/tourny power lists/cron air & others it happens enough. I think as has been stated that it isn't possible to be 'well rounded' like previous editions and that stinks.

Only the people that don't think hard enough proclaim that there's no such thing as a well-rounded list anymore.

How do you deal with Helldrake, DP, Cultist blob lists?

What can you take to reliably take out three Fliers, some MC/Flying MCs and some Blobs.

All backed by strong CC and Shooting.

That also simultaniously let's you deal with 50 4++ Guard with Artillary and Vendettas, 120+ Orks, 6+ Flier Crons, 12+ MSU Razor GKs, 3+ MC GK, 9 LR BT lists, etc etc.
