Cate
I am about to buying a Contemptor, and I am in a bit of a problem how to equip it. I usually play Orks on a densely packed city fight table, which means lots of cover and sadly more cc than anyone would want against orks. I am thinking about arm my Contemptor with two DCC weapons with flamers and using the Saga of the Black cull against the orks, but what would you suggest against MEQ armies? /C Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/272344-equipping-the-contemptor/ Share on other sites
MeatGrinder
I dont know what current ork lists are like, we dont see many around here, but the saga of the iron god is great if they have kans or dreds. I'd roll with a Kheres AC, flamer and cyclone. But thats pretty much my usual build for a SW contemptor anyway. Rift Blade
If you're dealing with a lot of MEQ(and Orks do it SO well), go with the 2 DCC weapons with Flamers & add the Cyclone. And yes , the Saga of the Dark Cull. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/272344-equipping-the-contemptor/#findComment-3321602 Share on other sites
skeletoro
Barring weapon destroyed, Furious Charge doesn't actually do anything for contemptors anymore. They already attack at strength 10, and furious charge doesn't give +1 init like it used to. Personally, I'd go Iron god unless you know you're not going up against walkers, in which case I'd go Forsaken One. I'm not super familiar with orks, but I would have though, personally, that you should prefer a high attack rate. Contemptors don't really dish out a lot of attacks in close combat - it's not their forte. I imagine that one would be likely to be tar pitted against orks (unless the orks have power klaws, and then the contemptor may be in trouble). Cate
"Learn to read the rules", the black cull is gone! The orks I play against are mostly green tide in city fight so sooner or later I will be in cc anyhow. Green tide orks have a tendency to tar pit dreadnoughts, so you need to support them with other things as I do with grey hunters. I imagine I need to support the Contemptor with either skyclaws or swiftclaws as it is faster then an ordinary dread. I see the point of using the saga of the iron god if you are up against walkers, which some Ork players have loads of. As the Black cull is pointless, Iron god is my only option as forsaken one means that the contemptor will fight alone. :) So against marines you advice me to use AC, flamers and Cyclone? /C Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/272344-equipping-the-contemptor/#findComment-3321726 Share on other sites
skeletoro
Personally that's what I'd lean towards, yeah. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/272344-equipping-the-contemptor/#findComment-3322081 Share on other sites
