Blood in the water

Recommended Posts

I've just finalised a basing scheme (dirty xenos though, so they won't be appearing in these hallowed forums) that makes use of the water effect. I'm very pleased with how the bases turned out and the water effect looks really good with very little effort. So much so that I'm considering adding it to more armies, especially on larger bases (such as Stormtalon and Dreads).

There are of course plenty of ideas such as bits and helmets etc to put in but one thing I thought would look really cool is blood in the water, especially if there was to be an enemy's head in it but I've no idea how to do this.

Having the blood as a layer in the water effect makes sense, perhaps even laying multiple levels of it in thinner coats of the water effect but before I can try this out I need to get a good method of doing the blood. Blood is thicker than water so it would be a better idea not to thin the paint?

So before I potentially waste what precious free time I have experimenting I thought I should come and ask for advice to help point me in the right direction. Has anyone done something similar or have any ideas?

Thanks in advance for any help smile.png

Hey mate, I think I did something similar here: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.222510891173768.53278.102661163158742&type=3

I used a really thin red ink/paint mix and an eyedropper to lay it in the botom before pouring the resin on top. The colour then lifted through the water. Some turned out better than others, less is more! :)

Cheers,

Luke
