spedley13
I know he's supposed to be awesome at CC, but I can't figure out why that is. It just seems like he is only good for challenging one person and dying. I want to like him, but it seems like a waste of 100 points. How do you guys use him? On a similar note, is Crowe any good? How do you guys use him, too? Is he the same as the regular Bro Champ? Reclusiarch Darius
Ah look...the Bro Champ suffers from being a HQ choice. If he were say a HQ unlock (for taking a GM or BC), or even an Elites choice, he'd be in a lot more lists. The problem is, for 100pts, we can get Coteaz, a TDA Inquisitor, two cheap Prescience Inquisitors...and of course, 100pts goes a long way towards a Grandmaster, easily our best Knight HQ in 6th edition. That said, he is a challenge god, so if you have to fight a lot of melee HQ's in your local meta, he can be useful. Crowe is worthless garbage, boycott until GW give him IC status. thade
He's only got one wound because he's really, really hard to kill when he shifts to the Rerollable saves stance; Nemesis Force Sword + Iron Halo makes him 2+/3++ both rerollable. He'll ignore something over 90-96% of all attacks directed at him. He can hold an entire unit down on his own; with even a little back-up it's almost broken. Throw him at an enemy super HQ. If the Brochamp can't kill him with a FW attack or hold him still, the Bro Champ's power on death has a very good chance of taking the super HQ with him. Since super HQs often cost more than twice that of the Brotherhood Champion, he can very quickly make his points back if you get him into melee. Those are the big ticket items, I think. spedley13
So basically how to use him is put him in a cheap squad and use him as a distraction/kamikaze to take out stuff like named characters and daemon princes? (I hate daemon princes...) Or put him in a larger squad and CC everything? Inquisitor Fox
Keep in mind he's also like a Chaplain in granting rerolls to the squad he's attached to. Escort an HQ and a kill squad, tank something scary with the Bro Champ while his buddies break faces... it's good stuff :) Fluffwise he's an escort to a Brother Captain or Grand Master, to keep them alive. Zeratul29
Lets just say if I had a third HQ slot, I would take him EVERYTIME in my lists. thade
Lets just say if I had a third HQ slot, I would take him EVERYTIME in my lists. Take four troop choices? Then you can have two force orgs. :) I am curious what you take alongside, I'm assuming, Coteaz? Zeratul29
oh yes, if i ran an all assassin list, it would be coteaz, 3 brotherhood champions, 3 deathcult squads, 1 shooty band, 2 strike squads and 2 or 3 ravens with those deathcult/bro champ squads inside of them. but for an 1850 list, i just run coteaz and 1 bro champ, each with their respective must have henchman squads. the deathcult/crusader squad with a brochamp is amazing. in one game, that one squad took out a fully upgraded deamon prince and kharne and a berzerker squad hehe, they were awewsome Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/272451-whats-so-good-about-the-brotherhood-champion/#findComment-3324602 Share on other sites
Reclusiarch Darius
Yeah, at 2k I'd definitely try him out. His re-rolls aren't especially relevant (we have 'Prescience' on all our psykers anyway), but its his ability to dominate challenges that matters. Plus, he's an incredibly annoying wound-sink if you position him right (re-roll save stance is nearly impossible to break). He's one of our 'fun but still usable' choices.
