Although its not really what you asked the best advice I would give a new player is unless you are going to take advantage of the services offered ina GW shop, painting tutorial, intro games and there organised tournaments I wouldn't recommend shopping there. You can get big discounts from companies that buy from GW in bulk and sell online.

Get some boxes of grey hunters and whatever transport looks coolest to you for each squad. Then buy or convert a HQ choice, either a wolf lord, wolf priest or rune priest.

Then get some devastator squads and try swap the other parts for missile launchers.

Alternately, grab the battleforce, thats 2 squads, a pod for one of them and some scouts. Then get a rune priest and you should be close to 750. Id totally reccoment getting two of the battlefoce boxes, you use everything and get two squads of scouts as an extra. Then you have 4 squads of 9 guys with a wolf guard, 2 drop pods and you can easily convert up a HQ from spares. Thats how Id do it if I was going to start my army over again.

You can absolutely use the AoBR models as Space Wolves, but they won't look quite right.

Basically for any Space Marine armies you can use models from whatever space marine armies you want to make them (Grey Knights being the exception as they are very different).  As long as you make it clear to your opponent what it is you are fielding, you shouldn't have any problems.

A couple of things of note: -The Space Wolf box is very "blingy" and can be a bit overwhelming to paint for a new player.

-Not all army boxes have the same equipment. For example, the SW box comes with 2 power/frost axes, 2 power/frost swords, and 2 plasma guns (+more) whereas the Space Marine tactical squad comes with a flamer, meltagun, plasmagun and missile launcher. You combine the bits from both boxes and end up with 2 10-man squads.

-There is no Long Fang box, so you will combine Devastator squad with extra bits from your Space Wolf box to make them Long Fangs.

All the info provided before me is good, just wanted to clarify a bit for you.

Cheers!

No worries about being new.

The most basic example I can give is you take one box of Space Marine Tactical Squad and one box of Space Wolves Pack.  You use the chest piece of the Space Marine Tactical and the legs from the Space Wolves Pack.  That allows you to have a Space Wolf that is not TOTALLY wolfed out in full wolf heraldry, you get the extra special weapons from the Space Marine Tactical, and the missile launcher for Long Fangs.
