mughi3 Posted March 10, 2013 Share Posted March 10, 2013 Greeting all, it's been a while since i have done a bat-rep, sadly that is because 40K is mostly dead in my area(6th pissed off a large number fo the local regulars enough they stopped playing). so i have gotten mabey 3 or 4 games in since september. i happened to run into a buddy of mine who wanted to break it out for an old rival game We both run themed imperial armor lists. mine is from IA 10 badap war-salamanders siege army list. HQ 1.master of the forge, power weapon/bolt pistol, full servo harness. 2.Brey’arth ash mantle TROOPS (2th company) 1.tac squad(5) (4th company) 2.(dread talon) X3 ironclad dread with extra armor, smoke, light, DCCW/heavy flamer. seismic hammer/heavy flamer, X2 hunter-killer missiles, assault launchers, ELITE (1st company) 1.venerable las/missile dread with extra armor, smoke, light 2.techmarine with servo harness, .Servitor X1 FAST- 1.Storm eagle, extra armor, las cannons, typhoon launcher HEAVY SUPPORT 1.Land raider achilies, smoke, light, storm bolter, seige shield Points-2,000 His is from IA 11-eldar corsair list. HQ- X2 corsair princes TROOPS X2 guardian squads .dedicated transports-X2 falcons with lance/pulse laser, holo fields etc.. FAST ATTACK .hornet squad(3) dual pulse lasers .nightwing fighter .nightwing fighter HEAVY SUPPORT .X3 void hunters This is always a tough matchup because both armies are quite resiliant- his army is very shooty and very mobile while mine is split half and half between assault and shooting and is quite a bit slower. The house rules: we went through and after much playtesting decided to play 6th ed with some older 3rd-5th ed rules put back in so that no army build would be hamstrung by GWs need to sell shiny new bling at the expense of veteran players. warhammer 40K 6th edition house rules Vehicles- .damge table-use 5th ed damage table with AP1 +1 -NO HULL POINTS Assaults .use 5th ed assault ranges/rules- .Assaulting from reserve/vehicles-follow 5th ed rules .walkers in assault-as per 5th ed rules. .assaults against vehicles hit facing armor(not rear) as per 3rd/4th ed . to hit vehicles in CC follow 5th ed rule (auto/4+/6+) .only jump infantry may assault zooming flyers/flying monterous creatures(as per FW flyer rules) .if a MC is wounded in this manner it must make a grounding check for each un-saved wound, if failed it crashes to the ground and remains locked in CC, if it passes it moves away as per its flying rules. Furious charge/fleet USR- . as per 5th ed rules Pintle mounted weapons & center hull weapon on land raiders- .all have skyfire+ intercept rules.(as per index astartes IV/apocalypse rules) Plasma weapons- do not overheat on vehicles. Scoring units- .as per 5th ed Terrain- tree templates represent an area of forest-granting a 5+ base cover save to all units within or behind them. For this matchup we played our usual 2K and rolled up- .12" deployment .for the emperor(#5) Having fuin with mysterious terrain we had lots of trees and water hazards on the table. I won the roll off and made him go first. funny thing is we both rolled the re-rollable reserve trait for our warlords. . turn 1 i only had 3 units on the table so he did his best to indirect me with his D-cannons to negate my ability to claim fortified cover. fortunately damage was minimal glancing hits. my turn 1 went about the same, but by turn 2 the action really got started. as i had hoped both his flyers and 3rd void hunter came in even with the attempted re-roll to negate. he did some damage to my venerable dread taking off an arm and immobilising my achillies. my turn 2 saw all but brey-arth come in. my storm eagle managed to get a shot through on one of his jinking fighters and made a kill shot scoring me 1VP for first blood. He mauled me prettyy good on turn 3 ripping a multimelta off the achillies, immobilising both the venerable dread and one ironclad. as well as damaging the storm eagles vengence launcher. My turn 3 i managed to have a bit of luck. stunning 2 of his void hunters and assaulting the 3rd-destroying the dreaded D-cannon- turn 4 he once again went after the storm eagle but luck was on my side, i only got stunned with a glancing blow and made my jink save when the hornets nailed me with a pen. he ripped the storm bolter off my achilies and annoyed the 2 dreads immobilised behind it. My storm eagle again went after the void hunters managing to stun one of them. i made the reapairs on my immobilised result for the achillies as well as the vegence launcher on the storm eagle. breyarth came in and managed to tickled one of his hornets that was a little to close to my dxeployment zone. ripping off a pulse laser. turn 5 it is now nightfight. he risked a falcon rush to contest my objective, tries and fails to kill breyarth as well as my storm ironclads marching across the table(he does immobilise one of them). he moved his operational void hunter into the trees in front of my position and gets attacked by the nest that he disturbs, a lone penetrating rending hit to the rear. he rolls 2 dice for his holo fields-double 6s. I get lucky again and the venerable dread puts a las kill shot into his fighter. teh rest of my shootng is mostly ineffective. Turn 6 again he shoots, fortunately for me quite a bit less, his shots either do negligable damage, or i make my cover saves. turn 6 i drop the storm eagle back in on top if the falcon contesting my objective and blow it up before the master of the forge can get a chance to destroy it.
