Warpflame and Tzeentch competitiveness

5/6 Games win with scoring objectives. Once the portal creates 4 daemons, the portal has "paid" for itself. It adds troops depending on your need. It's not a set troop choice, so you can get what you need depending on the situation. Durability? Horrors and Plague Bearers. CC backup? Bloodletters or Daemonette. Fast Objective denial/claimers Daemonettes. The units created can charge first, soaking up overwatch. It's a small blast marker and flat. Easy to get it cover and out of LoS.

Use your models to block it in as much as possible and go where you want it. It's at any point in your movement phase. First turn you can use large squads to force it to reduce the scatter minimum distance and go where you want it.

This is also talking about Tzeentch effectiveness. How about using Fateweaver's re-roll on the portalglyph if not running Grimiore of True Names. It can increase odds of making troops or number of daemons created. How Tzeentchy is that? Using other chaos gods troops as pawns. Just imagine plucking them from mid-battle somewhere to help swing the battle.

good writeup, yet still...

9/10 games it will get destroyed the turn after being placed

half of that without even creating a single unit

units created can't charge that turn

it scatters up to 24"

fateweaver costs 10 times as much as the glyph

grimoire is arguably better

gives killpoints away in purge the alien

neither a must have, nor a relyable tactic.

I would, in my undying wisdom, never take the portal. If it was given to me for free by my opponent, I would spit her in her face and refuse.

Not only is it a free victory point, it spawns more free points. If you could use the spawns to reinforce nearby units - then I might think about it.

Look I don't like the portalglyph.  However, THE PORTAL GLYPH NEVER GENERATES KILL POINTS, because you will NEVER HAVE IT IN A KILL POINT MISSION.  When playing in a kill point mission, you will simply choose to accept the reward roll, or opt for another one of the artifacts.

Hating the glyph because it generates extra kill points is like hating combat squads for the same reason.  Why don't you hate combat squads for generating kill points?  Oh, that's right, you don't, because in kill point missions you don't split your squads.  Well, in kill point missions you don't trade your reward roll for a portalglyph.  This isn't hard.

AGAIN, I don't like it, and I'm not saying it's a good choice.  I personally think your reward points are better spent on the lower level reward tiers.  But maybe I'm wrong, who knows.  Regardless, banging on about kill points that the glyph will never give up because it only ever exists in objective missions in the first place is ridiculous.

I don't think it's so easy to just remove at a moment'snotice because it has a solitary Hull Point. It's AV12! It requires dedicated anti tank to remove. What's more, depending on where it is, your opponent might not have the inclination to destroy it because they've got bigger things to worry about.

Daemons aren't vehicle free. MCs also contribute along the same lines to saturation.

Besides, since a whole unit has to shoot at the same target, it could very well force a player to fire at 'glyph instead of the real threats from your army.
