Yosef Hausakluif
I am thinking of making a purchase from anvil industry and wanted to know if anybody has experiecne with these kits....besides the weapons and accessories, has anyone used thier completed marine-like models? Are they roughly thr same scale as GW and FW, and are the parts somewhat compatible? Spaced Hulk
I'm literally just waiting for my first order to arrive from Anvil (the robed knight models) When it does I'll get back to you Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/272637-anvil-industry-models/#findComment-3325683 Share on other sites
Yosef Hausakluif
Thanks Spaced Hulk, I'd appreciate the feedback when thye arrive. I am eyeing up those new 'spec-ops' models to mix and match with conversions and IH bits I have and was wondering how they would all look and fit together... Messor
I've purchased the robed knights heads, and they fit perfectly on GW bodies. Not as revealing as it could be on the scale for the rest of their models, but you're probably safe. Grotsmasha
Over in the DA forum Elmo has a squad of them painted up, I'm fairly sure it includes a comparison. I'll add a linky when I get home. EDIT: I was wrong, the models only have Anvil legs, but it shows scale quite well, HERE. Spaced Hulk
My order arrived today (placed it on saturday so got here pretty quick) and my initial thoughts are that I'm very impressed! The sculpts are really good and seem well casted. Only had a quick look so far but can't see any major flaws or bubbles, they've also thrown in a few extra freebies. Scale wise they look like they'll fit in with GW parts perfectly, but I'll let you know for definate when I've put a few together. Will try to take some comparrison photos as well. Like I said so far I'm very impressed, and already thinking about ordering some more. The new Spec Ops/Black Ops set is pretty tempting too, if you do get some, let me know what they're like. Yosef Hausakluif
After seeing the pics of those dark angels and the way that the legs fit and looked, as well as seeing some other models here and there with anvil heads used in place of GW ones, I am placing my order tonight! Thanks again for all the replies. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/272637-anvil-industry-models/#findComment-3326686 Share on other sites
Anvilarium
I've got a load of Anvil guns & accessories, plus a ton of their bionic arms & legs. They are absolutely fantastic. The detail is on-par with Forgeworld, and pretty much all of the items I ordered have absolutely no flash or mold lines whatsoever. The Exo-Lords/Steam Lords parts are all in scale with with GW/FW Marines, and are pretty much designed to be 100% compatible. If you're in the UK, their standard delivery is super-quick: I ordered some parts on a Wednesday lunchtime and they arrived the very next morning! My only advice is the same as I would give to anyone using resin parts: Give them a scrub in some soapy water before using them, in order to clean off any leftover mold release agent. I'm going to show my ignorance here. What happens if you don't wash off the release agent? Does it affect painting/how glue bonds to them? Grotsmasha
Yes, and yes. It can prevent paint from sticking to the model at all. Similarly with glue it forms a barrier which can prevent glue from sticking or it may form a very weak bond. Cheers, Jono Thanks very much for the info These are the first resin models I've bought, so all I really knew about working with the material is that you have to use super glue rather than plastic. I'm guessing I just give them a soak in some soapy water and scrub them with an old toothbrush or something. How susceptible to heat are they/should I use cold water rather than warm? Yosef Hausakluif
I'd use warm to cold water, as you do not want parts like swords and gun barrells warping as a result of hot water. Peredyne
For cleaning my resin parts, I use a soak in Simple Green in my ultrasonic cleaner for one pass. Those two lift the mold release agent off. Then I scrub with a toothbrush and rinse in warm tap water, then I let dry or drop in my drying bin if I'm feeling impatient. My drying bin is just an old cashew container that I cleaned out and sprayed the outside with black spray paint. I put my pieces I want to dry inside and then put one of my desk lamps right over the top. The inside of the bin is silver, so it warms up and reflects the light and heat inside. I also use it for painting when I want to speed up the process. DerekLee688
I've recently seen pictures of the BACK of the skull helmets(no hood/no bionics) on the Anvil inustry web site. Does anyone else think they would look like Dead Space helmets if turned backwards?
