superwill
Hey guys! Just a quick question for all you GK toting friends. We seem to pack a lot of firepower in our units, whether it's crazy plasma henchmen or psycannon spam, and the easy availability of prescience psykers, it's not hard for us to put up a tough gunline. I've played a couple of games with the ADF, and even though it rocked and I won both games easily, I wondered whether an even more effective option could be the bastion? I know that my shooty squads will draw a lot more attention from my opponents next time I face them, and I wonder whether hiding them in a building or on high-altitude battlements would make them even more effective? So, have you used fortifications in your army, and if so, how have they worked for you? I did have a bit of a search and didn't find a similar thread, but my apologies if one has already been created! IndigoJack
I prefer the ADL because everything behind it, including most vehicles (like psyfleman) get a 4+ cover save. Additionally, troops can go to ground for a 2+ cover, which works for MSU since a small unit going to ground won't affect overall firepower that much. All that said, I typically don't use them because I like to play a more mobile game. Having one is too much of a temptation for me to just play a static gun line. Reclusiarch Darius
Aegis line with an Icarus is money. I've only tried it out a few times, but it has been useful every time. An accurate long-range lascannon shot every turn, plus Interceptor tagging a Flyer when it comes in are great. Put Coteaz or Vindicare on it (both give it re-rolls and either 3+ or 2+ to hit). Bastions are okay, I guess the problem with them is they can be destroyed, unlike the Aegis line. Skyshield is an expensive joke, more useful as scenery than its actual rules. Fortress is kinda funny, would have to talior a list to make it work however. Gentlemanloser
While a Nurgle Soulgrinder behind an ADL is Lolzy, we can get somewhat similiar results with a LR and camo netting. Although not as good resisting the counter assault, not being a Walker. :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/272651-adf-or-bastion-other-or-none/#findComment-3326189 Share on other sites
IndigoJack
Does the soul grinder get 25% cover? I thought it was too big, but I've never had the model and an adl to check it Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/272651-adf-or-bastion-other-or-none/#findComment-3326295 Share on other sites
Gentlemanloser
Not sure, taken it as read. Someone also mentioned that if it was too big, stick it behind the Quad Gun. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/272651-adf-or-bastion-other-or-none/#findComment-3326324 Share on other sites
Zeratul29
I've found that and ADL is a must in a henchman gunline list Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/272651-adf-or-bastion-other-or-none/#findComment-3326802 Share on other sites
