recon0321
I am going to paint my space wolves grey, Now here's the question anyone have some pack marking alternate colors. I want mostly muted tones. Here are my ideas.... Black/khorne red (WG) Black/steggadon scale green (GH) Black/ rakarth flesh (LF) Black/caledor sky (BC) Baneblade brown/rakarth flesh Caledor sky/ rakarth flesh Comments please?.. Ideas? Does warp lock bronze look good for armor trim? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/272715-pack-markings/ Share on other sites
Jonny Wolf
Brother, it's your army, but typically the Codex says: Wolf Guard - Black/Yellow Grey Hunters - Red/Black Blood Claws - Red/Yellow Long Fangs - Black/White But, again, your army, go for it! :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/272715-pack-markings/#findComment-3326906 Share on other sites
WG Vrox
I suggest you paint up a prototype of each unit, put them together on the table and if you like the way they look then by all means commence mass production. Like Johnny said, its your army don't be like everyone else make your army stand out and be quickly identifiable as yours. Vrox. Ashmantle
I can only echo Vrox advise to paint some test models and see if you like them. That said, if your only issue with the official colours for pack markings is their brightness, you could try muting them somewhat by mixing the red with some brown, the yellow with ochre and the white with either a light grey or a bone colour. Another option might be to forego the packmarkings as a whole, paint the shoulderpad grey(or black) and give each pack a different signifier in the form of a rune or a totem. Way1and
I think if you wanted to substitute the white, red and/or yellow with different gradients of brown and or gray, that would look pretty awesome and certainly give you a unique look for your army. Marshall Bretton
to be honest, given how space wolves are pretty well known for not caring overly much about the rules, i see no reason why a wolf lord would not change the colours of pack markings to whatever he wanted Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/272715-pack-markings/#findComment-3328556 Share on other sites
