Betrayer

Just finished listening to betrayer and i was furious at the way events turned out....i cannot believe that a piece of writting could even make you feel this way....Kudos to ADB for such talent, its not every day that you end up feeling seething hatred for a character that dosent even exist....

That said, i finally realise who betrayer is...

I think the betrayer is not Angron, who never loved his father and turned from him without a thought...
It is not Argel tal who was the "1st" possesed space marine...
It is not Khârn who followed in his primarchs footsteps..
It is not AUrelian who was willing to sacrifice/save his brother to daemonhood..

It was that whoreson Erebus, who backstabed Argel Tal, the one "honorable" posesed space marine that could have saved Khârn from an eternity of suffering and pain,,,

Once again this is propably my new favourite HH story and i highly recomend it...it is tragic but at the same time it makes you feel so much contempt and hatred, which in itself is fitting when you take into account the protagonists...

What did you guys think?

It broke my heart with sorrow and rage. Making it a tragedy all the more fitting for the light I see the heresy in.

Not just for the ending either, but seeing Angron when he's told the entire world he spared thinks he deserted his men a coward - after having lived his whole life in raging denial against this and against the Emperor for pulling him away - to see his last shred of soul broken by the words of ignorant mortals is gut wrenching.

The entire story of the World Eaters is a tragedy. They broke themselves to be closer to their gene-father, and that love is what damned them.

Even Lorgar - seeing how far he had fallen from craving the love of his father, and throwing adoration upon him, to now letting his legion rot from within while he worships the Gods of the Warp and sacrifices half his legion to be rewarded with the rage of Guilliman - something he actually considers a fair trade - when he's meanwhile risking his life to save Angron because he's his brother.

And of course, the whole friendship between Khârn and Argel Tal crashing down because of Erebus - condemning one to death, and the other to a life of betrayal, blood shed, mind shattering pain and frothing rage for all time - is the really brutal blow at the end of the book.

It's all a tragedy, but a tragedy that comes in league with so many emotions that it's hard to see it for what it is.

Bloody amazing book, but damn does it strike hard.

Ahh yes.

If only Khârn
could have delivered the killing blow in the pits!

but alas that was not to be. I considered Betrayer a great read. I really like the way ADB gets you emotionally involved in the soul of the characters he is writing about. There are so many different revelations in the book that it's hard to narrow down any one particular thing. One thing I am curious about however is We have been told that the Emperor sent the Wolves to quell Legions on two different occasions. However when reading Betrayer,

ADB gives the
impression that Russ came to the World Eaters on his own accord.

Could this be a small in site as to the fate of either the 2nd or 11th?.
