Smurfalypse
A unit at the back shouldn't worry too much as long you are scary enough elsewhere in the army! Away from my copy of the Codex, but does the Exalted Locus stack? Bumping the strength of the attack to 7 would make the unit a deadly proposition to vehicles. None of the Loci stack, it says that if two of the same Loci are in the same unit that one works and the other doesn't, but as soon as one dies the other comes into effect. Ah well I'll just settle for S6! First world problems :X Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/272811-is-this-pink-horror-unit-viable/page/2/#findComment-3330945 Share on other sites
Sception
I thought if two of any loci were on the same unit only one worked. Like, you can't even get two different loci with two heralds. Yes, only one works. . . As I just said However if one dies, the other immediately kicks in, if I remember reading it correctly. **Edit** I misread what you said, I think it is only two of the same Loci. Will check when I get home and have the book in front of me though. minigun762
It's only the strongest loci takes effect. If it's a tie, you choose which one. Hmm, so the Khorne Herald cannot give his unit rage and wrath? minigun762
That's my understanding. I'm going by the phrasing in the box on page 67. Makers
My issue with this is that if the unit gets assault almost anything its over. And for the same amount of points, You could run a Herald on a Juggernaut, with a Grimore and almost 20 Flesh Hounds... I would have more trust in the herald and flesh hounds. Nusquam
Psykers can not cast blessings/maledictions when they enter from reserves. I also thought you could, but I doubled checked the wording. The rolls for blessings, reserves, outflank, etc occur simultaneously. So you choose order in which to resolve them, but you resolve them all before the unit even arrives on the table. Once that happens the movement phase is past the "Start". The wording on blessings is misleading. One the model arrives it has already moved. As far as the original unit goes, splitting it up into two units might have more tactical advantages that are better over all than the amount of dakka you get. With two ML3 Heralds, both getting Change primaris that's still 4d6 S5(6 with loci) shots per unit for a total. Your opponent would have to assault both and split up his gunfire. It might be better to just have ML1 Herald with Loci and one with the Grimoire to save points as you can't cast blessings. Divination is nice, sure. They are still an immediate threat your opponent will need to deal with. So keeping them cheap can add up to another unit or spread out the points. I won't go much more into meta as it starts to become more play-style oriented beyond this point.
