Hi all, 

 

I'm wondering how to model my mini's and hoping you can help! :)

 

I'm building up the 3rd company and have built up 3 of the 6 tactical squads as follows:

 

1) Missile launcher, flamer.  Sergeant with bolt pistol and chainsword.

2) Plasma cannon, plasma gun.  Sergeant with plasma pistol and power weapon.

3) Plasma cannon, plasma gun.  Sergeant with plasma pistol and chainsword.

 

I'm building another 2 squads tonight, one of which is partially made up.

4) Lascannon.  Sergeant with power sword and plasma pistol.

 

The question is - what special weapon would you put in the lascannon squad and for the fifth squad, which heavy weapon / special weapon / sergeant wargear would you use?

I have changed most of my tac's sgt. weapons to combis. Also missile launchers are a good multi purpose heavy weapon. Frags for hordes, krack for vehicles(and bikes), and flaks for fliers. Also take some meltas you seem to have enough plasma.

I have a ML/Flamer one, a MM/M one, and four plas/plas ones...and a dozen assorted sergeants...it seems like the only squads that ever hit the table are plas/plas, and the sergeants are almost always boltpistol and power sword.  So...I'd recommend plasma cannon, plasma gun, and power sword with bolt pistol.  Or maybe a combi-plas on the sergeant, paired with a powerfist or lightning claw...but that's expensive!  My plas/plas/PW squad is 185 points, down a good 20 points since last codex!

I'm rebuilding my power armour army.  That said, my setup will be roughly:

Rhino squads:

Sgt with combi flamer/melta, melta/flamer, missile. This mean if the squad has melta the sgt will have combiflamer and vice versa. Jack of all trades so to speak.

Footslogging squads: sgt with combi plasma, plasmagun, missile. 

Since I go for combi's, melee weapons will not be used to keep things as cheap as possible. 

Just my 2 cents.

i am building the 5th company and the loadout of the tactical squads is...

1st + 2nd - ML PG sgt with PP/CS (multi porpouse)

3rd - LC PG sgt with CS/CP (LR AT)

2nd - MM M sgt with CS/PP/MB (fast AT on rhino)

4th - ML F vet sgt with LC/CF (to split in two CS, one to be CC oriented and the second one to be shooty)

6th - HPG PG sgt with PP/CS (this is the one from DV and i want it cause it's fluffy)

I actually set up my squads based on the special weapons they have, as follows:

 

T1: flamer; vet. sgt. w/power weapon; heavy bolter (alternate missile launcher) 

T2: flamer; vet. sgt. w/power weapon; heavy bolter (alternate missile launcher)

T3: meltagun, vet. sgt. w/powerfist; multi-melta (alternate missile launcher)

T4: meltagun, vet. sgt. w/powerfist; multi-melta (alternate missile launcher)

T5: plasma gun, sgt. w/bolter; plasma cannon (alternate lascannon)

T6: plasma gun, sgt. w/bolter; plasma cannon (alternate lascannon)

 

I had so many extra marines and heavy weapons that I have alternates for the heavy weapons in both my Tactical Squads and Devastator Squads.  Being able to mix and match is great.
