Gillyfish
They're coming along nicely and look pretty good as a complete force. I'd love to see some insignia added and a few washes to some of the flesh etc., but they look really nice. I particularly like the deep red you've used - it works very well as a spot colour. Chaplain Lucifer
It was a rush job to get them painted for the tornament. I still have to do some highlights, bases and touch ups. Tournament was good to make most of my marines tabletop ready. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/272847-angels-of-redemption-slooooow-and-steady/page/2/#findComment-3531629 Share on other sites
Gillyfish
It certainly helps to have a deadline to paint to. I managed to paint some Ravenwing and some Deathwing this year, but that's about it. Black Knights will be next, but probably only once I have moved house! Ironwithout
These look awesome Chaplain. If I may ask what are you going to do for chapter emblems if any? I am also doing some Angels of Redemption and the decals are the bane of my life at the moment. Chaplain Lucifer
Latest adition to my AoR. I didn't glue the weapons so I can use it as Dark Talon sometimes. I don't care about internet rantings on Nephilim.. it's a fine looking aircraft and by the Emperor's apendix, it will fly along the rest of my army. CovertToaster
I have no problem with the flyers being used in an anti-infantry role but I prefer the dark talon as the blast is fine for guard and orks where their armour save is negligible anyway, the hurricane bolters are great, and the bomb can be handy to blunt an assault or prepare an enemy unit for an assault. Also I would much rather pay 160 points than 180! Vissah
I am really liking the half half colours :-D wish I had the skill and patience to paint half half like that. Chaplain Lucifer
A sunny day at last and some progress was made: very very WIP. My plan is to do the split scheme and keep "wings" on the wings in black. If that doesn't work, maybe dark red. johnyocum
Question is, since the one side is so dark (almost looks black in the image) anyway, do you want that wing pattern on the dark side to stand out? If so, do the wings in dark red. If not, then keep them black. CovertToaster
You could mirror the whole thing. Do one half light and one half dark and then for wings etc do them light on the dark side and dark on the light side. Or as johnny says do them a completely different colour to get them to stand out. Chaplain Lucifer
I understand the concerns and share them, but I feel I need to start with them black and once is finished them see if it needs chances, as to avoid painting and repainting multiple times. Chaplain Lucifer
A bit more progress done. The interior is painted so I could glue canopy. I painted 1st coat of green and just highlighted teh black wings a bit to give idea of the final product. So far I'm liking it... doesn't seem overly dark. But once the model is finished then further conclusions can be drawn. johnyocum
That first coat of green makes the black stand out enough that I'm inclined to agree right now. Master Avoghai
Yup the green becoming a little lighter + the black getting grey highlight really help makin the difference between the 2 colours... Chaplain Lucifer
Scout squad complete: I wanted a more stealthy feel, so alot of stuff like the guns was kept in black. I tried to keep a limited palette going so they're not like a circus company. ;) I'm kind of proud of how the cloack cammo turned out. JJD
Good work on the army as a whole especially so if it was on a deadline. I love the camo pattern on the scouts. djgoldsmith
Good work. Flier works for me, contrast between green and black still stands out . As for the scouts just finished mine (must do a wip thread) and was feeling happy how I did the camo cloaks, I feel a little less smug now. Isiah
Wow CL - libby on bike is awsome sauce. Loving the black raven feathers theme you have there. Is that how you treat all you RW or just characters? Chaplain Lucifer
Isiah, the black raven feathers are my rw trademark. I had creative liberty with AoR so i decided that feathers should be black like a ravens. I dig the mpre sinister look.
