Doomed Dice Thrower Posted March 20, 2013 Share Posted March 20, 2013 My next project, a powersaw arm to replace the static power scourge from the box.I have no idea what I'm doing, this is the first time I try to create something with all the materials I collected over the years.Progress so far, this is going to be an intermediate part of the arm, which will connect to a third part which will hold the sawblades.The way I'm approaching this atm is to cut a rough foam core, which will carry a shell of pvc-plates and guitar-strings, with the plates going to carry additional detail. If you don't know yet, there's a nice little saw bit from the Ork killa kan sprue I think. You're right, Ork bots have the ideal parts for this, so do a couple nob weapons, thanks for the advice. But I want to scratchbuild it 100%, as cheap as humanly possible. The plan so far is to cut the blades from PVC. Will take some extra effort, but should be worth it. It's as good as done, just need paint.It's not perfect,actually pretty messy here and there, but for a first-try-ever scratchbuild, I think it's a pretty solid outcome. I learned a lot during the process. In future projects I will be able to avoid a couple mistakes that I made with this one.Enjoy the pictures (does the board have a resize pic function? I'm very happy with my first scratchbuild (despite it having come out somewhat boxy), and see a lot of possibilities for future improvement on scratchbuilds to come. Firepower Posted July 2, 2013 Share Posted July 2, 2013 Finally! I always wondered what that weird mechanical face thing was in my bitz box. Suppose it's not surprising to find out it actually is a face (or at least sits behind one). Anywho, that's a pretty nasty looking arm weapon.
