Power Weapon Envy with Daemons

Wolf Guard can take a Frost Blade for 20 pts: Str +1, AP3.  Ok, not bad.

Daemon Codex.  Their troop "Sargents" can take a Greater Etherblade for the same price: Str +1, AP2, Master-crafted, Specialist Weapon.

Granted the FB isn't a Specialist Weapon, but I would take that to gain the AP2 and Master-crafted on it.  *sight* oh well.

its all swings and rounderbouts  from codex to codex, most marine codices are green with envy over rune priest's, grey hunters and long fangs the same way i would love to be able to have tones of fnp like blood angels sometimes, space wolves have next to no fnp poisen attacks or real access to flyers. nurgle has loads of fnp and poisen normally although i havent had a proper look at the new dex.

It's a common misconception every Codex has to matched in the next Codex and it's a false belief which lead to points values of things like power fists being the same for Ork Nobz and Tactical Marine Sergeants.

We should be happy the designers are separating the Codex books like this.

White Dwarf had an article explain things very well (I paraphrase); Striking Scorpions are often overlooked in Eldar armies yet how valuable would they be in a Tau army?

Or to put it another way; you've already got the best of a lot of things so quit whinning like a snivelling Eldar! :)

would they be in a Tau army?

considering that 1 dex armies era has ended and tau can take eldar as ally , we can firmly say that striking scorpions in a tau army aint worth the points they cost.

Depending on when the article was published, they might well have been at the time.

Other examples; A plasmagun on a guardsmen isn't nesacarily worth the same amount of points as one on a Grey Hunter. Why? because the Grey Hunter has better BS, a better armor save to survive the overheating, and is just more durable in general.

That is one thing that might be nice to see in a 6th edition Space Wolves codex; The return of Space Wolf Leman Russ Exterminators.

That being said, a 6th edition Space Wolves 'dex is a long way off. We suffer from the same problem a lot of the more specialized marine armies do; It's difficult for GW to come up with new kits for us. Look at both our 'dex and the Grey Knights 'dex- The only actual new units I can think of are Dreadknights and TWC- Much of the rest of the release was updating outdated metal upgrade sprues/metal models to new plastic kits.

At most, for 6th edition Space Wolves I can see... a flier (But what? Every time I try to think of one that fits us I end up recreating the storm talon), a custom dreadnaught, maybe an assault transport of some kind to make newly-cheap blood claws viable. Problem is, none of those models will sell to people playing foot wolves.
