Forgebreaker

Iv always been kind of bothered by this, so I hope someone can illuminate me. Were there two hammers named Forgebreaker or is it just one? Fulgrim has one and then Perturabo also has one, is it the same one. If it is then why does Perturabo have it when originally it was a gift between Ferrus and Fulgrim. Also in the novels Fulgrim its description is different then the description it is given in Angel Exterminatus.

the timeline doesn't add up though.

horus gives perurabo forgebreaker after he tells perturabo about the rebellion on olympia, which is pre-isstvan massacre.

then during the isstvan massacre, fulgrim kills ferrus and takes his hammer and head?

or did BL reckon the whole thing?

and whats this nonsense about the iron hands recovering forgebreaker millenia later?

That nonsense about its recovery is a product of someone putting fan fiction on Lexicanum.

Just a side note the hammer Perturbo has is called FOEBREAKER. It is still probably Forgebreaker but just renamed by him.

<citation needed> msn-wink.gif

btw. this passage from angel exterminatus (ch.V) might implicate that Forgebreaker was given to Perturabo after the Olympian genocide :

With the cooling of Olympia’s mass pyres had come the realisation that nothing he could ever do from that moment could ever atone for a

worldwide genocide. His father would never forgive him so grievous a sin, but Horus had not only forgiven it, he had lauded his thoroughness

and dedication. Horus had sworn Perturabo never to feel guilt over what he had done to Olympia, but that was an oath easier to make than to live

by. Fools claimed Forgebreaker had sealed the pact between the Warmaster and the Iron Warriors, but only Perturabo knew it was

forgiveness that bound the Iron Warriors to Horus Lupercal.

Of course, this directly contradicts the IA article:

It was Horus who broke the news to Perturabo that Olympia was in rebellion. [...] Before his departure, Horus presented Perturabo with the hammer Forgebreaker.

It all works out if you assume that Horus gave Forgebreaker to Pert after the Drop Site Massacre. As to what he used before then, The First Heretic mentions he had a great big hammer but doesn't describe it or name it as Forgebreaker, so...some other big hammer, probably called Iron/Ferrous Something Or Other.

yep, we of the fourth legion have to wait for Massacre Part Two, along with the shadow warriors of Corax, and the Twentieth.

how could fulgrim take the hammer off ferrus? you don't just pluck a big freaking hammer from a furious demi-god busy trying to smash your face in with it.

...unless mat ward writes your background.

He wasn't busy. He had plenty of time after Fulgrim knocked him out.

ok, that i didn't know.

i find it hard to imagine though, puny fulgrim knocking ferrus out.

was he wearing a power fist?

No, Ferrus destroyed Fireblade showcasing his unique arms and the explosion blew him away. Fulgrim seized the opportunity and beat him bloody till his jaw broke.

I think you should wait for HH book 2 Massacre where Perturabo will be described.

The Iron Warriors will not be in Massacre. FW have confirmed that the four Legions featured in Massacre are:

  • Iron Hands
  • Salamanders
  • Night Lords
  • Word Bearers

Sorry, my bad.
