MogLord
Hi my wolfbrothers, I have a question about my Wolflord on Thunderwolf equiped with a Powerfist, is his strength 9 or 10 ? Nadir
Normal TWC have got 10Str with fists because they natural S is 5. But Thunder Lord has got S 4 +1 for being on the big bad wolf. So If I remember correctly the rules, the first thing is to multiple the natural strenght x2 and after that give him +1 for another wargear (TW in this case). So Str9 for our characters :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/273202-wolflord-on-thunderwolf-with-powerfist-strength-9-or-10/#findComment-3334494 Share on other sites
WatchCaptainAzrael
Your Wolflord on Thunderwolf must have a wolf-dubbed weapon. It's the only logical choice. Jarl Kjaran Coldheart
s10. the benefits of the TWM to our characters modifies their basic profile (much like in 5th ed, the explain his T was 5 and not 5(4) for insta-death purposes.)that applies here as well. Wolf Guard Dan
FAQ from GW website "Q: Is the +1 Strength from a Thunderwolf Mount a modification to the base characteristic? (p62) A: Yes." So your power fist is at Strength 10 (5*2=10) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/273202-wolflord-on-thunderwolf-with-powerfist-strength-9-or-10/#findComment-3334628 Share on other sites
Forté
Hope you're taking something which doesn't reduce your Initiative to 1 for challenges too. Get caught by the wrong opponent and you won't get to use the fist anyway. Anaraion
Which is why you have WC/PF for your TW Lord :) Hope you're taking something which doesn't reduce your Initiative to 1 for challenges too. Get caught by the wrong opponent and you won't get to use the fist anyway. Which is why my TW Lord has PF/WC :). Forté
Had to make your point twice there Anaraion ;) but you're right with that combo. Though power sword & axe is cheaper. Nadir
Yeah, but with axe you've got "only" Str6 not 10. And when taking any of the power weapons you don't need another one to have +1A. dswanick
S9 : (S4 X2 +1), BRB, pg.2 The multiplication is applied before the addition per the BRB. There is no "Base S5" Wolf Lord, he is "Base S4" with a bonus due to two wargear options (TWM and PF/TH). There is also no S4(5) or T4(5) anymore. Forté
No Nadir but you have the option depending on initiative Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/273202-wolflord-on-thunderwolf-with-powerfist-strength-9-or-10/#findComment-3336128 Share on other sites

No, because the codex does not tell you to change how you evaluate the modifiers. If it said that the TWM bonus were to be added before all other modifiers, then it would. As it is, this is another example of how GW doesn't understand the application of its own rules (another example being Signums & Snap Shots).
