Wolflord on Thunderwolf with Powerfist ( Strength 9 or 10)

Normal TWC have got 10Str with fists because they natural S is 5.

But Thunder Lord has got S 4 +1 for being on the big bad wolf. So If I remember correctly the rules, the first thing is to multiple the natural strenght x2 and after that give him +1 for another wargear (TW in this case). So Str9 for our characters :(

s10.

the benefits of the TWM to our characters modifies their basic profile (much like in 5th ed, the explain his T was 5 and not 5(4) for insta-death purposes.)that applies here as well.

WLK

Which is why you have WC/PF for your TW Lord :)

Hope you're taking something which doesn't reduce your Initiative to 1 for challenges too. Get caught by the wrong opponent and you won't get to use the fist anyway.

Which is why my TW Lord has PF/WC :).

S9 : (S4 X2 +1), BRB, pg.2

The multiplication is applied before the addition per the BRB.  There is no "Base S5" Wolf Lord, he is "Base S4" with a bonus due to two wargear options (TWM and PF/TH).  There is also no S4(5) or T4(5) anymore.

Do the rules in the SW codex faw not override this though?

No, because the codex does not tell you to change how you evaluate the modifiers. If it said that the TWM bonus were to be added before all other modifiers, then it would. As it is, this is another example of how GW doesn't understand the application of its own rules (another example being Signums & Snap Shots).
