Draigo/Calgar Mash-up, commission

hey B&C...

here is my final commission...
after ten years booked solid, i'm ready to take some time for myself, return to competition, and improve my technique...

this is a mash-up of the original metal Draigo and metal Calgar...
needless to say, he weighs a ton...
it was nice to get a chance to revisit the first Calgar Grand Master i did a couple years ago, as many people thought it lacked a bit of "Grey Knightness"...
replacing Calgar's chest with a cast of Draigo's really makes a difference...
a much more imposing version of Draigo, i think...

i'm not sure why the client wanted him armed with a halberd, so i threw the sword on his hip for wysiwyg purposes...

"Improve you're technique". Ha hahaha hah. Dude, you're one helluva painter.

Love the conversion, it is much more imposing than Draigo's stock model. And of course some flawless paintwork on display. You really hit this one out of the park! :tu:

thanks guys...

i had a lot of fun with this mini...

funny enough, i never saw it complete until all the paint was finished, as i paint everything in seperate pieces...

i was surprised to see how well the conversion worked...

as for improving my technique, we all paint at different levels, and hopefully all aspire to get better...

there are a lot of specific different painting techniques i haven't tried, such as NMM, monochrome, juicing, and such...

other things, like water effects, complex display basing, duels, and dioramas are all things i want to explore...

most of all, though, i want to improve my skills until i paint as good as the best in the world...

there are many painters who are better than me, but i'm chasing them...

my goal is to be ranked in the top 50 of CMON, win a Slayer Sword, P3 Grandmaster, and the Crystal Brush...

so yeah, i'm pretty driven, but i have a long to go, and much to improve...

might as well aim high, right???

cheers

jah
