Favourite Scene of the Heresy so far?

I think it was Dan Abnett who said in one of his interviews that the Heresy series started out as a means to 'add flesh to the bones of the story we already know.'

So, what are some of our favourite scenes so far? The new stuff and the tellings of the old. The little ticks and the big events?

Some of mine are:

The Raven Guard and the Imperial Fists having bets about which Primarch will kill Horus in Deliverance Lost.

Leman Russ taking the piss out of Valdor at the Council of Nikea in Prospero Burns.

The telling of the triumph of Ullanor in A Thousand Sons.

Roboute Guilliman's note taking in the hours before the Calth betrayal in Know No Fear.

Angron and Lorgar in that ditch under the Titan's foot in Betrayer. The Emperor commanding the Word Bearers to kneel as a legion in The First Heretic.

Purely because these are the one's in my mind currently:
Angron holding up a Titan - beast!

The Tech-Priest blowing up a volcano just to take out a titan legion

Purturabo turning one of his own men into a Dreadnought with a single hammer swing

Sharrowkyn utterly pwning Lucius (as per usual)

Gulliman fighting in the void with no helmet

Loken fighting Abaddon - classic

Bjorn backhanding the Thousand Son/Deamon who tried to control him with the word "Bear". Along with that the Greater Deamon on Prospero who tried the same thing.

Raldoron trying to take on two greater deamons on his own.

I'm sure there is some more I'll come back :)

hope i'm not to late!

my favorite parts are

the shipyard being destroyed in Know no Fear, and all the destructive aftermath.

the whole boarding action with polux in Crimson fist

Luna wolves fighting the Sons of horus in the ruins of a city

Dorn disowning Sigismund in The Crimson Fist.

Oh and another favorite moment- I believe it was Argel Tal in The First Heretic, who is reluctant to fire the first shot at the Loyalists on Istvaan and is sorrowful for what he is about to commit. Cool scene.

Dorn disowning Sigismund in The Crimson Fist.

That is a good one. Hopefully Sig will follow the old fluff and redeem himself at the walls of Terra.

My favorite moments so far...

1: The two battles between Curze and the Lion (Savage Weapons and Prince of Crows). Reading how the Lion misjudged Curze the first battle in which he almost lost and his triumphant second fight where he was clearly the winner. This is one of the few clear Loyalist wins in the HH so far, and it's telling was masterfully done.

2: anything Sevatar says or does. This guy is hilarious. As I DA fanboy I wish my legion had anyone close to as cool as he is.

'You killed them because they disagreed with you. Sevatar, you are insane.’

The First Captain gave a subtle shrug. ‘So I am often told.'

3: Pertarabo tricking Fulgrim into looking at a toy Titan only to smash his face into it and choke him was pretty good too. It you haven't read Angels Exterminatus I highly recomend it. It made me really like Pert, who I always thought of as a boring Primarch.

In the future I think my favorite moment will be Sanguinius standing up the walls of the Imperial Palace looking down at Angron.

"This was a war where there could be no honourable peace. It was destroy or be destroyed. For a moment all was silence, then Angron strode forth. In his brazen voice he demanded that the loyalists surrender. He told them that their cause was hopeless, as they faced a foe which could not be defeated. They were cut off, outnumbered, and defending a ruler too weak to be worthy of their loyalty. In that moment the men on the walls felt their resolve weaken. Looking at the transformed face of the Primarch who had once been one of the Emperor's finest warriors, they saw an invincible, relentless foe backed by a numberless horde and all the daemonic might of Chaos.

There was a clamour on the walls as Sanguinius and the Blood Angels arrived. Standing on the wall, the angel-winged Primarch glared on Angron with angry contempt. For long moments their gazes locked, each Primarch seemed to be measuring the other, searching for chinks in the armour, for any sign of weakness and lack of resolve. Who knows what they saw there? Perhaps they communicated telepathically, brother Primarch to brother Primarch. The truth will never be known. Eventually Angron turned and walked back to his lines. He told his troops that there would be no surrender; they should kill everyone they found within the palace. No stone should be left upon stone. "

-From the short story by William King.

1. Russ breaking Magnus and throwing him into mud

2. Curze choking Lion to death, after Lion started the fight with a suckerpunch (*insert backstaber*)....

3. Lucious getting beaten by Tarvitz in the same manner as Loken owned him

My favourite bits I've read within the HH novels are as follows

Loken being accepted into the mournvile

Loken head butting lucius

The WE captain that charged Angron and their traitor brothers.

The scene written about the BA legion and all the daemons/cultists in fear to tread

Amit not backing down from sanginuis even though sang is choking the life out of him.

Sanginuis and the Khorne daemon dueling it out in mid air and on the ground.

I like Sharrowkyn killing Lucius as well, but for a simple reason:

After the death star like idiot ball the RG owned in Deliverance Lost, I liked any member of the Raven Guard being scary good at his job.

Also, the sorta bonding between Sharrowkyn and Tarsa.

WLK

Sangunius' visions in FtT. Any of the Primarchs sarcastic one liners to each other in A D Bs books. Perturabo deep down wanting to be an inventor and civil servant, not a general. The shipyard above Calth. The Grand Cruiser crashing into Calth. The description of how the Iron Warriors came out of the warp in a spiral at Phall. That part had to be the best description of a large scale space battle in the whole series.

My favourite bits I've read within the HH novels are as follows

Loken being accepted into the mournvile

This!

there are many scenes that stick out as great but this one i keep coming back to.  This is the scene I've read the most times, and i learn a bit more every time.  Ive used this scene the most to further my arguments, here and other places on the interwebs.  Did Loken Live past Istavaan III?  Yup, and if you read this scene the right way you might have seen it coming.   Is Loken a psyker?  Are the Son's of Horus (Abaddon, Lil Horus, Torgaddon ect) , clones of the Warmaster?   Is Loken still alive in 40k?  All of theses questions have answers in this scene.

#2 When/ how the World Eaters get their name.

#3 The parley in Iron Within.

Saul Tarvitz running from Angron through Isstvaan

"Tarvitz was a space marine and knew no fear. He had experienced it but had the training to ignore it. But when he saw Angron, he ran"

That one was awesome to read. No illusion of victory there, no heroism or last stands to speak of, just "run for your life!"... :D

Definitely Sharrokyn killing Lucius.

As opposed to everyone else and his battle brother killing him? Jk msn-wink.gif

Everyone else and his battle brother beat him. Sharrowkyn killed him.

And, well, because it chafes against CSM players that Lucius could ever be beat. You all know who you are.

thats a solid point. Lucius has been "beaten" in duels, but never in a true life or death situation.
