Favourite Scene of the Heresy so far?

Oh I forgot to add another scene:

Angels Exterminatus in the last battle; I can't remember the names but it was an Emperor's Children soldier using a sonic weapon against a deaf Iron Hand only to find it doesn't work, and then get ripped to shreds by a Volkite weapon of some sort.

That was just stupid. The Sonic Blaster had been shown to shred armour and flay Marines bodies. How does being deaf protect you from that?

It was still a cool scene to read.

Not for me, all I could think was how stupid it was.

Me too...damn...imagine something like " deaf company " :-)

In addition to my previous post - Funniest Moment in The Horus Heresy:

Lotara Sarrin teaching Lhorke to play cards on the bridge of The Conuqeror... just the thought of those massive dreadnought hands trying to hold cards made me laugh so hard :D

It's scenes like that explain why A D-B is the best HH author. Others can do the battle scenes better but he's not just a great storyteller but legitimately very funny.

The..the everything.

But the first novel was gold, especially the scene where the Luna Wolves "killed the Emperor"

Well I guess you haven't read the Furious Abyss. It...uh...leaves something to be desired. However reference my chapter name for those of you who have

Flying Skraal

Unit composition: 1 infantry (unique)

Equipment: melta bomb, Angron's chainaxe? (whut?)

Special rule:

RAAAAAARGH!!!!

When within 18" of a vehicle or nuclear reactor, Skraal may perform his "flying melta bomb" move. Move Skraal in base to base contact with unit and roll 2d6 penetration (auto hit). Remove Skraal. One use only.

The Space Wolves battle with the Network Culture, from the taking of the orbital platform to crashing it into their cities. (Prospero Burns)

The confrontation of Hauser with the Demon in Prospero burns

All the scenes where Fabius gets slapped around

The Moment of Betrayal when the Word Bearers open on the Ultra Marines in the cantine. (Know no Fear)

Pretarbo smacking Fulgrim around.

All the scenes involving Leman Russ

All scenes involving Raven Guard not written by Gavin Thorp. (His very first books were much better written than his Heresy stuff I wonder what happened)

The Last scene in The Serpent Beneath: "What does your Primarch demand of you?" " Everything."

In Savage Weapons, where Konrad Curze receives the reward of treachery from the hands of Lion in Caliban steel.

Also, I'm waiting to see Sanguinius holds the Eternity Gate against hundreds of traitors and daemons single handly.

I want to read about the moment that Angron and the Angel stare each other down from the walls of the Imperial Palace.

It's going to be hard to beat the William King story.

Lots and lots

- The end of Horus Rising, when the narrator says that standing besides Horus as they were besieged by the interex is still the proudest moment of his life, despite the Heresy.

- Horus and the Mournival tearing strips of Eidolan and the Blood Captain captain when they arrive at Murder.

- Horus's embittered descriptions of his brother's attitudes to him when he thinks he's dying. (False Gods?)

- Most everything Garro does in FoTE.

- The successive moments in Legion when you realise how cool the Alpha Legion are.

- The entirety of Rogal Dorn's internal monologue in "The Lightning Tower".

- The arrival of the Emperor on Mars in Mechanicum "Machine, Heal Thyself".

- Getting a Legio Custodes pov story (Bloodgames) in Tales of Heresy.

- Khârn being attacked by Angron in After De'Shea, and then Angron leading his legion "into the blood-drenched darkness".

- Corax asking if he looks like he needs a bodyguard in Raven's Flight.

- RUSS!!! in Prospero Burns.

- Ingethel killing Argel Tal in TFH "This is going to hurt, a lot". Brutal, gave me the heebie-jeebies.

- The destruction of the Calth shipyards in KNF.

- SANGUINIUS!!! in FtT.

- Angron and Lorgar fighting together in The Butcher's Nails - Angron laughing when Lorgar tells him to just paint his armour red.

- Hearing Argel Tal's "double voice" in The Butcher's Nails.

- Hell, most of Betrayer - I need to go back and re-read it to isolate particular favourite bits as I devoured it in virtually one long go.

Oh I forgot to add another scene:

That scene was bull:cuss.

No one has mentioned Kaleb Arin? The most heroic human character in the novels, and one of the most touching too. His death, saving Garro, and subsequently the Imperium, had to one of my favourite moments.

- Malatox

Having just listened to the audio version of FotE.... I completely agree, it's arguable that he is a greater hero than any other character as he willingly sacrifices himself to save his master and the imperium. I was sad to be reminded he came back as a plague zombie :(

A scene from 'Prospero Burns'.  Longfang's Dream of Winter, when he tries to explain to Hawser the reason behind the Wolves.

'I told you this.  A role for each primarch-son. A role for each primarchs legion.  Defedners and champions, storm troopers
and praetorians... we all have our duties.  SIxth legion are the executioners.  We are the last line.  When all else fails, we are the ones expected
to do whatever is necessary'

Great how he keeps an eye on him whilst in the throws of death.

The part in 'Betrayer' when they are travelling to Nuceria and Angron enjoys camaraderie with his legion, laughing and drinking with them and watching their duels. For some reason it was a very moving scene, especially if you think about what happened next.

Corax nearly killing Lorgar

Yes. The whole "You're killing my sons!" part was so emotional and tragic, I really felt for Corax. I actually hoped, for just a second, that Corax would kill him, despite established fluff. I desperately wanted Lorgar murdered in that moment. No, not "Loken-dead" dead. censored.gif STONE DEAD, never to return. Ever.

I felt better during Aurelian, especially when Lorgar began smacking around Fulgrim.

The origins of Corax when he was found on deliverance lost.

Aeonid Thiel when he is informed that the primarch will be seeing him shortly and when he is promptly forgotten.

Servatar when he meets up with the first company "Hello Ladies" just adds to it on the audio book.

the meeting of the celexus assassin on terra by the Vanus in nemesis

The very end of the lightning tower where the Emperor speaks to Dorn
