Books that need to be released

Recommended Posts

Right just wondering what you good people of this forum felt still needed to be written for the Horus Heresy as a whole.

So far I think the legions that need to be done:
Death Guard (Eisentein wasn't really enough)
White Scars (for the masses not this "Special Edition" crap)

Salamanders (almost nothing is known about them)

I am wondering what you think is missing from the Horus Heresy as a whole?

While all the shorts taken together give a good look at the Night Lords they need their own book too. Both the Wolves and Thousand Sons need a bit more but that might could be done in shorts. We really need some more on the Sons of Horus Legionnaires, not Horus himself. A more coherent look at what the Iron Hands are up to would be nice as well. I'd also like some more with the Raven Guard and Alpha Legion and the Dark Angels back on Caliban.

White Scars and Salamanders are the most in need of a book, literally nothing has been written about them, not even a short story as far as I'm aware. Then probably Night Lords and Imperial Fists, both have had short stories but neither have had a book. Sons of Horus are in need as while they have been relatively well covered as the Warmasters Legion and the central players in the Heresy they should get the most coverage of anyone. Iron Hands could do with a bit more though probably only short stories now that Ferrus is gone. Raven Guard and World Eaters don't need anything at the moment but probably need another book and some shorts in the mid term. Death Guard, Iron Warriors, Wolves, Sons and Blood Angels are all okay. Alpha Legion are well covered and don't need any more at the moment. DA have had two books plus short stories so they are one of the best covered Legions. Ultramarines, Word Bearers and Emperors Children have been overdone and don't need another book though short stories and appearances as antagonists are okay.

White Scars had brotherhood of the Storm by Chris Wraight it was good but not enough! the most neglected legions are the Scars and Sallies, although cant wait for Vulkan Lives to come out, been waiting age's for a good story about them!and the raven guard are my favourite at the moment looking forward to hearing what's going to be released about them on the 29th March!!

A full Night Lords and Death Guard books are what Im looking forward to the most. I expect the DG one to be where they turn to Nurgle after gettting all diseased. With them stepping up the number of Daemon Primarchs and legions turning to Chaos (not just being a traitor) Id hope the DG one is coming soon.

Death Guard should and probably will get a book about their journey to Terra and transformation but unless I'm massively off with the Timeline that won't be for some time. As for Brotherhood of the Storm limited edition novellas and game day booklets don't count. If it isn't on generally release it didn't happen as far as I'm concerned.

I cant think of much more stuff to be covered until the siege based on where they are in the timeline. From reading Collected Visions it looks like its quite close to the end of it now after Signus Prime, Calth etc and with 3 of the Primarchs now being Daemon Primarchs.

I'm going to throw my opinion in and say Alpha Legion. I've read Legion and as good as a story as it was it didn't really cover that much. an origin story or something would be nice. Its clear that they've got there own agenda and I'd like to know what it is.

Also a Night Lords book would be nice maybe the destruction of Nostramo or the decline in Curze mental state.

I don't know about you, but an Imperial Fists novel would be pretty boring until the Warmaster's forces make landfall. Brooding, Preparing, Brooding, Frantically preparing, Brooding, then finally jaw dropping action. However I'm willing to bet they'll be penning a novel solely about the Imperial Fists actions during the Siege, I for one would love to read Sigismund's actions in great detail, rather than in passing.

"Rules of Engagement" was a pretty good story about a legion preparing. Besides, Imperial Fists operated in the whole galaxy during the Heresy. Just Rogal Dorn and bulk of the legion were preparing in Terra.

Night Lords (but I think A-D-B has been preparing something), White Scars really need a novel, we don't know much about them during the Heresy, only the "special edition" novella which is limited and hard to find out of the UK. Salamanders need it but they will have Scorched Earth and Vulkan Lives. Imperial Fists too, but until the Siege of Terra they don't really have much to say, that's the reason the Siege should be mainly by their POV. And as bonus Death Guard actually is unknown because Flight of the Eisenstein was more about Garro and the well...flight of the eisenstein, than the legion itself. And as a personal wish, another Alpha Legion novel, those guys deserve another shot, this time during the Heresy and the supposed conspiration between Alpharius and Omegon. Also a third novel about the Dark Angels since Fallen Angels left some mysteries unrsolved.

I'd like an Imperial Army focused book and a Custodian centric one (Blood Games was great. Now give me MOAAAR!)

I think the Custodians, like the Imperial Fists will only really start to appear and matter when we get to the Battle of Terra. I'd be very surprised if the War in the Webway isn't covered to some extent.

Isn't the point of the Dark Angels to leave most mysteries unsolved?

I was talking about the fates of Zahariel and company. And how Luther takes control over Caliban (because there were probably some DA against the rebellion, like that librarian guy whose name I've forgotten). And overall the thing between Zahariel and that daemon. Just some plot holes I would like to get filled.

By the way the civil war between Lion and Luther was after the Heresy isn't it? Do you guys think that BL would cover that story eventually?

I'd love more Night Lords but sadly with ADB moving onto work for the Talon of Horus a full novel seems off the radar at the moment, especially since he's commented himself that the Night Haunter has been one of the most fleshed out Primarchs thus far. Can't remember where I read it or from whom but I'm pretty sure that a short story following on from Prince of Crows will be released at some point.

As for the rest, the Fists, imo, have had plenty of coverage at this point, I'd go so far as to say they've appeared in the most books in some form or another which won't satisfy everyone but bear in mind they'll be one of the star players by the time Terra rolls around. The Scars are screaming out for a full novel, especially now they have been "cracked" and while it's true they'll get their time in the spotlight at Terra, they need something well before then, preferably something that shows just why Horus was convinced the Khan would join him.

As for the rest of the Legions, they've been pretty well covered/will be covered (Salamanders being the latter). Personally I'd like to see more Omegon, Perturabo, and Sevatar, in reverse order
