An Old Wolf Returns To The Fang

It has been a while, but I have returned at last.  Time to rebuild my troops and begin a new Saga for myself.  Gone are the trappings of youth.  Old age and treachery have come to stay.

It is hard to be Active Duty Military and keep to the hobby, much less aford it.  Especially with a wifey and three little ones.

Join me, brothers in a toast to Russ and the All-father!

Welcome back to the Fang brother - I'm sure you could simply 'persuade' the wife that your toy soldiers are much cheaper than say playing golf or airsoft ;) and besides get the kids joined in :D

Hope you find your tankard full and your platter covered in meat - and ofcs have fun :)

My original force was mirroring my take on Ragnar's Company, especially since I was a new builder and wanted something with lots of fluff to base my army on.

Unfortunately the movers who got us here flattened the box.

Over a 150 Marines trashed, plus two speeders, a rhino, an old school razorback (the kind with the MANNED lead single lascannon turret) AND my landraider.

The box looked like it had dropped from a plane.

I couldn't believe it.wallbash.gif

I will rebuild.  Only now I will do it more so because I want to enjoy the painting and modeling.  Not just the gaming.  Still I have to admit I always loved to unload AN ENTIRE GREAT COMPANY on gaming days and watch the other players cringe.  I played a few 4,000 point games and almost always won.  Sometimes it was close but a victory is still a victory my fellow wolves.

My lowly Rhino had a special history to it, in a 1800 pt fight against Tyranids a Trygon surfaced on top of it, FLUBBED every roll and died when it smashed into the Rhino.  The Rhino wasn't even disabled!!!  Needless to say I had to sit down.  No one, to include the store owner could believe it!

Then one of my Grey Hunters armed with a powerfist survived his entire squad getting caught in a cross fire by THREE Leman Russ from a Traitor Imperial Guard army and was able to destroy one and disable another before a Long Fang Squad popped the last tank, then finished off the immobile tank, after crossing a large open field!  Needless to say I will be bringing him back as a Wolfguard or perhaps Lone Wolf.

Did you at least get some money out of it? Full replacement value!

V

Nope, took over a squad and went to the field almost as soon as I got here. By the time I got back and found out about it, it was too late to do anything.whoops.gif censored.gif

Take said squad to said movers and 'persuade' them to pay you the money back as compensation - quite simply they broke it so they should replace it - at least to the CURRENT monetary value :/

If said squad was composed of "Space Wolves" like my unit in the 173rd Airborne was. These guys are good, but more like the Ultra Smurf variety.

As such not much can be expected of em in the instill fear category.

I have to admit I like the new flyers the SM seem to have.

I know, I know the are not admissible in most competitions for Space Wolves.  I still like em and I think they would look AWESOME in a SW paint scheme.

Then there is that Imperial Valkyrie that camped out overhead in one game popping all my armor.  I still won, because I killed every single living (lol) thing on the board with my wolves but that one Valk was nigh untouchable, regardless of what I shot at it with.

My solution:  purchase em and paint em anyway.

When the Inquisition comes to the door asking if I have anything not featured in my dex respond like Logan Grimnar does everytime someone asks about Thunderwolves -  "Who us?  Riding GIANT Wolves?  What is in the mead you been drinkin?  Go bother the Dark Angels or something (door slams while an erie HOWL echoes through the canyons).

Shame about the smurfy variety with you sad.png - you can borrow some of my brother's lot when he's off tour near christmas haha - though it means changing a flight plan as he's British RHA (Chestnut Troop) - but they enjoy 'persuading' people of the right thinking smile.png - or ask our dear Valerian to pay them a visit haha

Valks are awesome - tbh. I'm looking at building up an Artillery Company (all Basilisks) to show my Brother's Reg. and then do UH-60 conversions for Vendettas, do a winter USMC or SEALs force tongue.png gotta have a bit of cooperation biggrin.png

I guess if you went for some White Scars or Black Templars it could work in the sense of a unity thing - we're all against Imperial Doctrine and have our own ways of fighting, as well as (iirc.) relatively close relationships.

Me personally?  Two tours in Afghanistan with the 173rd Airborne Brigade.  Infantry.  The only way to be, for me anyways.  I foot slogged just as Russ intended!

(When they had us dismount from the Humvee's that is, LOL)

My Wolves?  Well the count stands at 13 wins, 2 ties, and 7 loses.  I already mentioned my two most memorable Marines.  Though I did have a Long Fang squad grease a "Counts as Abbadon once.  This was after he destroyed one squad of Blood Claws and one of Grey Hunters.  He dropped right at Ragnar's feet who got in a couple of shooting attacks as well.
