The Wolves Return to War!

So this past weekend, my flgs held a 2k tourney. I had been playing my daemons since 6th ed came out, but with the new codex and the shift to horde style army, I just didn't feel like taking them. So I brought out my tried and true space wolves. I decided that since my great company had suffered some extensive losses in their previous outtings, that they would need some support. This support came in the form of a codex sm libby, some scouts providing recon, and air support (a storm raven and a storm talon).

Through the course of the day, I fought Dark Angels twice, Necrons, and CSM. In the end the wolves placed 2nd. I went 3 and 1 through the day, with a hard fought loss to necrons, and a spectacular come from behind victory vs Abbadon's CSM.

It was a super nice return to the fang, and I thought I would share. I'll provide game overviews later this week. For now though, here is the list I took.

Rune Priest TDA cots LL/JOTWW-drops powers for div.

Librarian TDA/SS Force axe Null Zone, gate of infinity

2x 8 GH mg/pwr axe/ws DP+ TDA WGPL combi melta/chainfist

1x 10 GH 2x PG, WS +TDA WGPL w/assault cannon/pwr axe DP

1x 10 GH 2x PG DP

1x 5 SM scouts w/sniper rifles

5x WG 2x TDA w/cmelta,cfist, 1x TDA ass can/pwr axe, 2x bp/ccw DP

2x 5 LF 4x rockets

1x Storm Raven tl ass cann, tl mm, locator beacon.

1x storm talon tl ass cann, tml

ADL-no gun

I was just under 2x, with 5 pods, 3 coming in 1st turn, and 2 flyers. I thought the shenanigans was going to be goi, with my death star (10 GH's, 2 x PG, Assault Cannon, Div RP) ds'ing off the locator on the raven, instead it was null zone and my plasma packs period. Wow, it was an amazing combo. The list played well, and I had a ton of fun with it. Time to get back to work...will follow up soon.

They use the locator beacon on the Storm Raven so their Drop pod does not scatter when it arrives.  Only problem I see there is that wolf Drop Pods only fit 10 guys and if your in TDA that takes up two spots. plus an extra body puts you at 13 guys in a 10 man drop pod.

Actually, they never arrived via drop pod. They always started deployed on the board. Their pod always came down empty. The codex librarian has gate of infinity. He can use his power to DS within 24" of their current location, I just use the Raven to put a locator beacon where I would want them to prevent scatter. Sadly I never used it. Null Zone was just so good with two plasma packs and a rending assault cannon that I never got a chance to gate around. I already had enough targrts in range that I didn't need to go anywhere they couldn't walk to.
