marvmoogy
Hi all, I've got myself the FW Chaplin dreadnought with the plasma cannon and CCW. I posted in the Dark Angela section about how to paint it and the suggestion was made to make a giant dreadnought sized crozius. now, I love this idea to the point that I've bought some DA vehicle bits to make the head of the crozius. I want to use the arm section I have bought but not sure what to use for the fist and the hilt. Any ideas? I have looked at the nemesis dreadknight but I can't see the left hand holding a ccw. Can anyone help? cheers! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/273406-dreadnought-chaplin-crozius/ Share on other sites
Brother Dallo
Sounds like a pretty cool idea. I'd suggest the "human" hand from the venerable Dreadnought kit (The one with three fingers and a thumb). For the haft, I'd suggest using the force weapon from the Blood Angels Librarian Dreadnought and removing the blade and any Blood drops etc. Here's what it would look like http://www.lounge.belloflostsouls.net/photopost/data/575/ksonsdread3.jpg The picture isn't mine, but is a good example of what I'm talking about Hope this helps. marvmoogy
thanks for the reply, Dallo - it's appreciated :) Now I just need to find some on this bits websites :( Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/273406-dreadnought-chaplin-crozius/#findComment-3338082 Share on other sites
tvih
Since you're DA, I'd say an "obvious" choice for the head of the Crozius would be some of the big DA icons from the Ravenwing upgrade sprue. There's two different kinds - either the robed figure with wings, or or the skull+sword with wings. Both suitable for a Dread-sized Crozius. marvmoogy
thanks - as I said, i've already got the 'head' of the crozius sorted, it's just the hand and the shaft that i need to get my head around! :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/273406-dreadnought-chaplin-crozius/#findComment-3338176 Share on other sites
Leonaides
Or alternatively just use the whole BA librarian dreadnought force weapon arm and essentially do a weapon end swap by taking the blade off and adding your Crozius head... Simples, but effective. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/273406-dreadnought-chaplin-crozius/#findComment-3339931 Share on other sites
Brother Moridius
I made my chaplain dread out of the blood angels kit. changed the force weapon end to be like a crozius and glued it onto the piston arm thingy backwards so it was longer. If you want I can post a picture tomorrow for reference. I think it looks solid and it was really easy. Edit found i already had a crappy picture on my computer: This is one way to do it. There are lots of other ways too, its your model, enjoy it! The_Chaplain
I'm actually gonna go against some of these suggestions and suggest getting your hands on a seismic hammer arm from the ironclad dreadnought kit, remove the ball bearing ends and affix some kind of large censer like mace head on the end- supported by the seismic hammers thickened pistons. I suggest the seismic hammer arm, because it has a counter weight on the opposite end, so whatever crozius you come up with wont make the arm look front heavy. Another idea for the crozius is gluing 2 of the DA ravenwing icons into a "sandwich" with 2 of the ironclad dreadnought chainfist blades cut to fit and put in the center of the "sandwich"- making a serrated cutting blade for this most awe inspiring crozius! marvmoogy
thanks for the advice guys. I've been having a look around the bits sites and cant find anything to do with the BA Librarian dread so I think that idea may be out :( As for the seismic hammer idea - it sounds good, but I've just posted out my spare ironclad dreaddy bits to someone on here as I thought I'd never use them.....d'oh! The other idea I've had is to use the right-hand nemesis dreadknight fist. I'd use the forgeworld DCCW but instead of putting the 'claws' on, i'd glue the 'fist' onto the 'wrist' and fill the hole with greenstuff. The only issue I have is whether or not that hand would look ok holding the shaft of a crozius. Has anyone got any ideas on that?
