Wolf Lord Rules Revised for 6th Edition

Recommended Posts

Hey all. Now some of you might remember that, a while back, I created some rules for all of the Wolf Lords in the Space Wolf Chapter. Well I was looking through some old boxes today and found the sheets with the rules on. Well 6th Edition had been released since they were made and lots of rules are now redundant or there may be some better rules to replace them.

So as I have some spare time on my hands I might as well go ahead.

Also units with the outflank or OBEL rules lose them due to Bjorn's nature for up front assaults.

A Warrior from Birth: Ever since he was born Harald has been facing adversity in the eye and over coming it. All his life his favoured weapon had been the reassuring heft of an axe. To show this Harold attacks with his frost axe at Initiative 3.

The Curse of the Wulfen: The sign of The Bloodied Hunter is associated with the Mark of the Wulfen, some even whisper that Bran has been seen to take on a different form in the heat of battle. At the end of each turn roll a D6 and add the turn number to it on the result of a 8+ Bran takes on the form of the wulfen and uses the Bran Redmaw Wulfen profile. He also looses his independent character special rule.

A Company of Wolves: At the beginning of the game, roll a dice for every unit that has the option to take mark of the wulfen (excludes independent characters and lone wolves). On the roll of a 1, one model in that unit, chosen by the owning player, gains the Mark of the Wulfen special rule.

That turn any unit within line of sight and within 24'' of Krom gains preferred enemy for the rest of the turn.

The Reward of Valour: Krom keeps a great many Wolf Guard in his Company, for his Fierce-eye believes that valour should be rewarded wherever it is found. Wolf Guard units, in an army that includes Krom Dragongaze, increase their maximum squad size to 15.

Iron Fury: Iron Fury is Egil's personalised Land Raider. Iron Fury is a Land Raider with a twin linked Multi Melta (in place of it's twin linked Heavy Bolter) and Frag Launchers. It costs 265 points and may be taken as a dedicatd transport for Egil and his unit.

Outrider: Krakendoom's Company prefer to go to war in armoured transports, and boasts many Swiftclaws that act as outriders for the main force. Swiftclaw units gain the Infiltrate USR as they scout ahead on search and destroy missions.

Seadrake: Seadrake is Engir's personal space marine bike. He has the option to take it for 30pts. It gives him the skilled rider special rule and comes with a twin-linked flamer.

  • Epic Saga

Lord Of The Firebreather. In an army containing Sven Bloodhowl one Wolf Guard unit may be designated Firebreathers. Any model(s) in that unit may exchange one weapon for a flamer at a cost of 5pts per model. In addition the unit’s members’ experience at laying down curtains of flame and their ritual of swigging promethium in order to spit flames makes even the boldest of foes wary of getting too close. The whole unit counts as having Defensive Grenades. Note that the unit may combine its Defensive Grenades with Counter Attack – the enemy may be wary of the flames but the Firebreathers have no such qualms about charging through a wall of fire. Any member of the squad who is detached from this squad in order to act as Pack Leader for another squad loses the benefit of defensive grenades – mingling with the other marines the enemy doesn’t spot his flames until they are already committed to the assault.

Epic Saga: Sven Bloodhowl's armour bears banners made from the flayed skins of his defeated enemies, tattooed with depictions of their deaths. So terrifying is his appearance that he can turn the tide of combat. All units wishing to assault Sven must first take a Leadership Test.

Future in Flames: Kjarl Grimblood's foresight is so supernaturally acute, it is said that he has the gift, and that he is able to see the future in flames. In an army that includes Kjarl Grimblood after deployment you may move one of your units. Furthermore in close combat, if he passes a leadership check, Kjarl becomes initiative 6 as he pictures the actions of the foe. Furthermore, on a D6 roll of a 6, he adds one dice into the psychic power pool.

All is Ash: His great Company favours a great many flame weapons, boasting no fewer then twelve Land Raider Redeemers. Wolf Guard and Grey Hunter units may take a Land Raider Redeemer as a dedicated transport.

  • Fear
  • Fleet
  • Stubborn
  • Animal Resilience
  • Beastly Massacre
  • Unnatural form

Animal Resilience: The power of the wulfen flows free through Jorin's veins. The laraman cells in Jorin's body are greatly strengthened by this power. Jorin's invulnerable save is increased by +1.

Beastly Massacre: When it comes to close combat Jorin turns into a blood thirsty monster, some times hitting his own warriors. To show this Jorin gains two attacks on the charge. Furthermore, when rolling to hit if Jorin rolls any 1s he must allocate those attacks towards his own warriors. Although, when Jorin rolls to wound in close combat any rolls of a 6 cause Instant Death.

Unnatural Form: Turning into a wulfen changed Jorin. He is now a monster with no mercy. Enemies quaver before his gaze any enemy model wishing to assault Jorin must take a leadership test.

Fang and Claw: Fang and Claw are Jorin's ancient chain axes. They have the following profile:

Fang and Claw
WeaponRangeStr.APTypeFang and Claw-+12Melee, Shred, +1 Attack

Any Suggestions are welcome.

Fenris Kid

Edit: I have fixed the Kill the psyker rule and out it where its meant to be. I have also tried to tone down Jorin Bloodfang. I have removed furious charge and rage. I have also replaced fearless with stubborn. Hope this helps.

It makes me really happy that you used Jorin Bloodfang instead of Bulvye.

Some of these are extremely overpowered, take Jorin for example:

Chain axes that have +2 str and shred with ap2. 2+/3++, with feel no pain at t5? Along with rage and d6+4 attacks at s5? I dont care if hes 300 points, hes going to be worth every penny and then some. You need to tone them down a little, take logan as a base point, aim to have 250 points worth of a character. Theyre Wolf Lords, not superhumans. Well, they are superhumans, but you know what I mean.

Not one of these guys is worse then abbadon, and he is cheaper.

I think for Fang and Claw, the two weapons together give that profile.

Engir should have the option to be on a bike IMO.

Otherwise they all seem awesome in their own way. Point values are always tricky.

I'll add in the bike option and the profile is for both fang and claw together not that they each get that themselves.

Thunderwolf King: Harald's great company goes to war accompanied by a

host of lupine beasts, be it flesh and blood, cybernetic construct or

even spirits of loyal companions. To show this in an army that includes

Harald, one Thunderwolf Cavalry squad can increase its maximum squad

size to 10.

imo a better option would be to give TWC mounted models to buy normal wolfs just as if they were HQs.
