Legion Army Troop Choices

What do you guys think would be the best ratio between Tactical Squads and Support Squads. 20 man squads for Tactical Squads? 10 man squads for the Support Squads. What weapons do you think are best?

Also, does anyone think that Breacher Squads are viable in a normal game and not Zone Mortalis?

Hmm, maybe 1.5:1. Yes, definitely 20 man squads for normal games, feels more Heresy-era. For weapons, depends on what you are fighting or what you think is cool. Bleachers don't look good on paper, too expensive, but I've never tried them out. They do have the advantage of being one of the three choices that fills the compulsory slots.

The problem with Support Squads is that they are small and for the most part start on your board edge. If you are taking DP assault or something similar, your choices may change. But for a "typical" army I think that the Volkite weapons are a steal. Long range, good punch, and not too expensive. I have a group of 5 for my list and they seem to work well with the regular marines a x20 and a x10 unit. I'll mention something that Jim posted in another threat about adding power weapons to the tacticals for some added punch when the lines eventually clash with each other.

I'm planning on a 5 man plasma support squad.

It will babysit an objective throwing out death f 24", and double death to anyone who gets close. Just bough a mak II apocathacy who might join them to keep them in the fight. My only problem is that I am already maxed out on elite choices.

Breacher squads would be cool if they had the shield wall rule (+1 toughness if in base contact with two other models from own squad). As thy are I don't know what to do with them.

As for ratios, I have just built my tacticals upto the legal size and am planning on about 15 per squad as a decent size squad, with vexilla and power sword on sergeant.

Breachers are weird with their really high starting points cost and then really cheap to add extra points cost. If the invuln save was the other way round (5++ shooting 6++ melee) then Id be more inclined to try them. I might get a squad just for looks though with the new FW models.
