cerberus_
I read around online that a lot of the new paints are not the same as the old line. However since I just started 40k, and all my paints are new, will this affect me much? My specific scenario is that I am going to paint the joints of the armor behind the knees and elbows grey and then wash heavily with nuln oil. People said to use codex grey but as thats been dicontinued, the closest is Dawnstone. Is this color close enough for this purpose, or will it be too dark or too light? If so what has been, in your opinion, the closest to codex grey? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/273587-closet-paint-to-codex-grey/ Share on other sites
Vivster
Do it black or leadbelcher - much better than a grey one Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/273587-closet-paint-to-codex-grey/#findComment-3340606 Share on other sites
elohimalpha
If you wash pretty heavily with Nuln Oil, it won't really matter what's under there. So yes, Dawnstone is a great choice. And Vivster, I'm with you on the Leadbelcher Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/273587-closet-paint-to-codex-grey/#findComment-3340636 Share on other sites
BrotherCaptainArkhan
Vallejo have a wider range of greys than GW. May be worth checking them out - I'm considering switching as my basecoat grey (Charadon Granite) has been discontinued by GW and isn't represented in the new range.
