MalachiOfRuss
I don't think we're going to get the basic SM flyers, or we would've got them already (in Death from the Skies). With the DA and SM codexes done I think we can predict how things are going. Look at the price of upgrades for things in the DA and SM codex, and that's what we'll get: cheaper wargear (storm shields, jump pack, bikes), some special weapon adjustments, and Long Fang heavy weapon options will match the other codexes (I'm calling it now). Yes, that means 15 pt Missile Launchers, with another +10 for Flakk missiles. Lascannons and Plasma Cannons will go down 5 points each. Looking at Tigurius, though, I'm excited at what they might do to Njal. If Tigurius is any indication we may see Njal drop by as much as 100 points. Mammon
That or they will nerf Njal so the Ultramarines can claim to have the best human psyker in the Imperium! If we do get our own flyers, I really hope they leave the ridiculous and gratuitous use of "wolf" out of its entry. Still crossing my fingers and wishing they will take cues from Dan Abnett's Lone Wolves and Chris Wraight's novels about fenrisian culture. If Tigurius is any indication we may see Njal drop by as much as 100 points. Knock on wood! Sometimes logic doesn't always work especially when it comes to a non codex independent astartes chapter. Balance may come in a form of high point cost regarding Njal. Just because prices go down across the board with other chapters, we might have to pay a little extra just to be on par with the updated rules and wargear. Urauloth
They're never going to codex up FW stuff again, they've said as much. If there's a flyer it'll be a new design. Personally I'd like to see a sleeker, less overloaded, more practical looking craft in the vein of the stormraven. Longer thinner hull, no dorsal turret, decorative engraving on the armour plates, no wolf anywhere in the name. A pragmatic transport, fast and manuverable enough to fly through mountain passes and ice canyons, tough enough to stay in the air during Fenrisian storms. That's just me, though. What we'll probably get is a hideous mess with a giant wolf muzzle for a prow and racks of wolfstrike misiles and the option to deep strike thunderwolves by dropping them on wolf pelt parachutes Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/273625-next-space-wolf-codex/page/11/#findComment-3470917 Share on other sites
Bloody Legionnaire
I always thought it would be pretty awesome for the last remaining man in a squad gained the "Lone Wolf" special rule and effectively acted like a Lone Wolf. I don't know if GW would ever do this, but it would fit in with the fluff much better than it currently does. Even if it only applied to Wolf Guard squads.. what have you. I personally think that would be pretty cool. SerEightBall
When the guys in my group knock my squads down to the last grey hunter, he gets Eternal Warrior. I think it would be a nice bit of flavor if last wolf standing succumbs to the wulfen inside. Urauloth
If he suffers an unsaved wound from a lascannon he might suffer death, but he doesn't suffer instant death. Point of pride, I guess. He doesn't immediately lose his 0 remaining wounds. I give up I can't make sense of it either you're going to have to elaborate on this Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/273625-next-space-wolf-codex/page/11/#findComment-3471217 Share on other sites
Jarl Deathwolf
He instantly gains the stats of a wolf lord, but also gains Eternal Warrior. In all seriousness, I'm assuming they meant either FnP, Fearlessness, Rage or any combination thereof. Probably FnP. SerEightBall
What? That makes no sense, at all. Sense? The rules? Only having one wound to begin with? People taking you too seriously? None of that matters when you're the last of your pack, your brothers lying dead around you. You see your enemy gazing after you with an evil smile. No time to mourn. It's time to continue the fight, and seek a glorious death; this death will not be instant, even while your armor fails and your body is torn, you revel in the pride of battle, and your last moment at the throat of your prey lasts forever. With the final beat of your hearts, you join Russ on that great cosmic beer-run and even in death remain an Eternal Warrior. Jarl Deathwolf
You could do that now, though. You can just say they have eternal warrior. I've told my enemies sometimes that when they "kill" my Rune Priest Alrik (who is amazing at always appearing for the next battle ) he places a curse on them that makes them roll worse. (Side Note): It did work once, when Abbadon turned into a spawn directly after "killing" said priest. Kasper_Hawser
Gem... Now give me my cookie. And the cookie with pink, blue, purple and red frosting goes to Wulf Vengis! (Though he mispelled the name slightly) Back to topic, interesting idea playing around the idea of the Lone Wolf. Having any last Grey Hunter of his squad suddenly gaining the current Lone Wolf stats and rules. Fluffy but sadly not going to be a game changer. In the end, we have a Lone Wolf in power armour walking around with a bolter/bolt pistol/chainsword, or at best, maybe the last survivor is the plasma gun. Hardly a game changer. V The period should go inside the quotation mark when you quoted the word "misspelled." And double quotations marks are proper rather than single marks... Unless one is attempting to point it out as a key term, rather than to actually quote an individual's earlier writing, in which case single quotes are appropriate, and the punctuation does indeed go on the outside. EDIT: If I had meant to quote him (and used the double quotation marks), I would have had to have kept his incorrect spelling of the word, too. Kasper_Hawser
Ah come on guys, back to the topic and no griping about grammar! I thought we were thinking about interesting ways for the Lone Wolf to be implemented in the 6th Ed. Just curious, what would happen if the Lone Wolf had access to a jump pack as well? Would he be eligible for deep strike then? That would give the damn Tau Lines to shoot something for a turn instead of the Grey Hunters. Just a cheap throwaway elite to keep the wolves *cough cough* I mean the Tau at bay. Disciple of Caliban Sgt
Has anybody else thought of how they very likely may remove the Psychic powers the wolves have? All the other marines seem to have BRB powers it wouldn't surprise me if they just dropped the codex ones.
