Rift Blade
Well done Mammon(passes an ale). I like what you thought up. It fits pretty well. Here's hoping someone at GW is watching this thread. Not so sure about Bran & Bjorn but I haven't got anything so there you go. Thanks for posting. dothac83
Does anyone know if GW will be including Stats for each Wolf Lord in the next codex? I know in 5th we only had stats for Logan and Ragnar but I would like to see the others (Krom especially, since I have A SW Army from his Great Company). If somebody on here does know for certain, then they are not allowed to say. 3. I can tell you right now with a high degree of certainty that GW is not going to publish each Wolf Lord as a Special Character in the next codex. We are likely to keep most, if not all of the current ones (I'd be more than pleased if they drop Lukas and Canis); we may grow one or two additional ones. Either way, we've got about the right number of Special Characters for a codex already and more are not really required. 4. The whole point of having the generic Wolf Lord entry in the army list is so you can make your own Krom Dragongaze. SamaNagol
Flyers and Grav weapons. I would like to see some kind of crazy pilot upgrade for our new flyers. Similar to the character in Blood of Asaheim I would hope and prey that Rune Priests are left alone and Jaws/Runic Weapons aren't nerfed. Because at the moment they are the only things standing in the path of several builds. I would like to see Grey Hunters left EXACTLY as they are. I would like to see Blood Claws improved considerably. Either a drastic points reduction or boosted to WS/BS4 and the same points cost with only access to Flamers. The trade off between Wolf Banner & Melta/Plasma for extra assault prowess would make it a reasonable decision. This should also be carried over to Swift Claws (Who should be able to access all types of special weapons and get a drastic points reduction) I will think of more but off the top of my head thats what I would like. MalachiOfRuss
Lukas and Canis will not be dropped - there are models for them so they will stay. In fact, there has been somewhat of a history of models that no one really used (bought) from a previous codex edition, suddenly getting "must have" rules in the new one. Rune Priests will certainly change. The ability to "block" someone else's Blessing powers will almost certainly go, that ability has been disappearing from all the other armies that had something similar to it. I just hope they don't go completely "Runes of Warding" on us. SamaNagol
One would hope that GW may have noticed that allowing Blessings to go off with no interference is leading to unstoppable Deathstars dominating the table top. It would be nice to keep it along with Jaws so as to give the Wolves a unique edge over the very good Vanilla dex. An overall points reduction on certain upgrades would help SW a great deal too. Some sort of way to give units FnP would help. Can't really take Thunderwolves at 50pts each when you're rolling 3+ saves. They die as easy as 30pts of Grey Hunters to Serpent Shields/Broadsides etc Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/273625-next-space-wolf-codex/page/14/#findComment-3507119 Share on other sites
Grimtooth
I still go with my original rules suggestions for Lukas, Canis, and Arjac. Lukas an upgrade character to all "Claw" packs with rules reflected for each specific one. Canis becmes upgrade character for TWC with new rules. Two forms for Arjac, upgrade character fo WG still and IC Iron Priest form with HQ foc slot as a WGBL with changes to equipment and rules. Kasper_Hawser
The codex sure could use either the Stormtalon or Stormraven officially in them. If not, in Blood of Asaheim novel, the Caestus Assault Ram was specifically mentioned and used by a Grey Hunter pack. Either one of those three or more would be nice. I for one, don't insist on the whole "fighting on foot" opinion. I have a suspicious feeling that the Codex might not have too much other than adjusting point costs. As mentioned, even hated characters like Lukas and Canis are probably here to stay due to the models already in production. At the very least, our costs efficciency should reflect the latest Space Marine Codex, from the currently overcosted Swiftclaws to maybe even Thunderwolf Cav. Whether we get a new weapon like the Grav Gun or additional special rules is highly debateable. Most of the Long Fangs here seem to agree we're good enough as it is with our current rules and weapons. I somewhat agree but still would like to see something that helps the Wolves be even more, I dunno, cunning and ferocious. As it is, Counter Attack seems to be a defensive weapon. LOL, I seriously don't want a Wolf Zoid though. Thunderwolf Cav already serve as a unique deathstar unit to the Wolves, just a little expensive IMHO. dothac83
One thing I would like to see (I'm not holding my breath for this), would be for GW to include the specialty weapons (Melta gun/flamer/grav-gun, etc.) in the basic space wolves pack instead of just giving us the plasma gun. Many of us who play the game are on budgets and can't afford to buy the extra guns separately, myself included. Once a kit has been made (like the Space Wolves Pack) it stays around for years. I think the SW book is still pretty good - we need our point adjusted to be in line with the other Marine books (which we'll get), and some AA options in our book. I really think we're going to get our own unique flyer. If we were getting the Stormtalon or Stormraven they would've done it in Death from the Skies (like Black Templar). Also, because they like to sell models, we'll probably get a new "centerpiece" unit for the army like all the other books did. Having it be that "relic battle tank" previously rumored would be neat. LOL, I just had a thought. RETURN OF THE LEMAN RUSS BATTLE TANK TO THE SPACE WOLVES! Bwahahahahaha! Seriously though, if Space Wolves were to be allowed to take the tank that is actually named after their primarch, it better be a damn good variant. Somehow the current Leman Russ with battle cannons, even with BS4, doesn't sound or look too scarry for me. Plus I have a hard time imagining a wolf themed Leman Russ battle tank. I imagine the wolves would also be kinda squashed inside that tank which is meant to be manned by normal humans. I guess a centerpiece wolf flyer would be logical. We already have the Thunderwolf cav on the ground as our unique centrepiece/deathstar. Can't really think of another centerpiece that would rival the thunderwolf cav on the ground. Unless they decide to give the Wolves centurions too. *shudder* On the other hand, Assault Centurions with massive wolf claws look mighty wicked to me. Maybe not S9 AP2 armourbane like the current Assault Centurions, but at least AP2. Even at S:User, Centurions are S5 so should be able to wound most things combined with Shred to reroll misses and wounds. Just a crazy idea, I know Centurions get enough hate as it is. DanPesci
Id like to see options to upgrade wolf guard to WS5. And allow our scouts to take camo cloaks. If the rune priest gets his nullification nerfed, then he needs to drop by a good 30pts to be in line with other codexes (pretty sure DA run a libby at 70pts?) I dont think they'l drop canis or lukas either, but getting some rules so that theyre worth taking (even jsut making them cheaper) would be good. In fact, i think most of our special characters could do with a slight points reduction :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/273625-next-space-wolf-codex/page/14/#findComment-3508700 Share on other sites

Vlk
I really hope we get something - ANYTHING - with locator beacons. Seriously, why can´t we use those?! It makes no sense at all. By the way, is there currently any way to get them (possibly IA models?) in our army without taking allies? Spacefrisian
the least gw could do for now is to add a single line to the errata (same for Blood Angels btw): Spacewolf Longfangs may purchase flakk missiles for 10 points. I bet these will cure some headaches in concern with flyers. By the way, is there currently any way to get them (possibly IA models?) in our army without taking allies? For me this is counteracted by the fact that we can put terminators into drop pods, which is a much safer way of having them arrive than deep strike as other marine armies do. Aye locator beacons would make our pods that much better, but its not something that i think we hugely need. It would be nice (and make sense imo) for our scouts to take them though.
