Next Space Wolf codex?

Wolf Priests providing FNP, Fearless, and a re-roll to hit and/or wound might actually bring Blood Claws back on the table, via the LRC delivery system.

Also, making the Iron Priest not take up a FOC slot might help with Swiftclaws, too, now that I think about it, provided we can put him on a bike with cyber wolves. I'd really like to see IPs get the harness; I think I'd actually use them, if these rules, and a Master of the Forge option were available. We could finally bring them out from the dusty corner of the shelf.

I don't see why everyone assumes our units will get a points increase, isn't the recent trend from GW to reduce the cost of units?

From the sounds of the new C:SM the bulk of the units are having a minor point reduction, so it's stands to treason that our units will at the least stay priced the same.

I also can't see long fangs losing split fire as it has been a standard of theirs since 3rd edition. Lets not forget these aren't the newly promoted marines but aged veterans.

As for losing our psychic powers, the dark angels and SM choose from the rulebook because rulebook powers fit their psykers. Rune priests are supposed to be shamanistic and draw power from nature so none of them really fit that idea. I don't see why we won't get our own chart reflecting this belief (whilst still gaining access to a few of the BRB ones).

In terms of flyers, yes, we'll probably get one. If only for there to be a new kit to buy lol. Am I excited about the idea, not really, but that's just because neither I nor my regular opponents use them so in my meta AA isn't an issue.

I'm excited about new possibilities, worried about them letting matt ward near it (don't know who's rumoured to be writing it but I hope he doesn't get his fluff defiling mind near it...) and releasing hideously ugly new kits but mostly I'm not overly fussed. Ill get it, learn it and play with it when it's out, until then I've got a perfectly good codex that ill continue to play.

Change happens, sometimes good sometimes bad, I'm not going to panic about what's in it when they've just cast Ben afleck as batman because surely it won't be that horrific msn-wink.gif

From what I've heard there's actually a split between the developers. Matt Ward and others are devoted soley to the tabletop rules, while another group develops the fluff.

Is this a permanent or revolving split, Reede? I find it a little odd that you'd decouple the fluff development from the rules and whatnot.

But then, that might explain the failure of certain models to live up to their fluff on the tabletop. I'm looking at you, Dark Angels aircraft.

I see nothing much being changed here.

Wolf Lords will still be how they are of GW sticks to the build a hero workshop they currently have with sagas and such. It allows us the mechanic of creating our version of a chapter master for our great companies.

WGBL might get a boost if we see captains get a boost in the new SM codex.

Priests might get some changes with wolf priests getting a little boost on the apothecary side of things, rune priests getting an adjustment to powers, bit retaining unique powers to the Wolves, and the higgie being iron priests getting IC status.

Wolf guard getting similiar treatment as sternhuard and homor guard of new SM codex but retaining wolf flavor. Complete change to scouts as they are absolutely useless now and do not mathc their fluff at all. Lone Wolves stay the same, dreads stay the same.

GH will stay the same as now SM tacticals are cheaper so maybe the crying will stop. BC going cheaper with a loss of special ranged weapons to make up the difference.

TWC stay the same. Access to a new flyer, hopefully not wolfified out the wazoo. Swift and Sky Claws drop in price with same changes as BC.

Long Fangs get flak and probably new version of splitfire, but lower in points maybe. Access to new AA tanks.

Yep.

But I also see Canis dying off or getting an invul.

And my sources tell me that TWC will be slightly cheaper and have another rule tied to a saga (outflank or some such).

Like the new SM Techmarine version, I'd like to see Iron Priests in a not-consumed HQ slot and as fully customizable Independent Characters. Out of anyone, these guys should have access to anything and everything; they control the Armories, for Russ' sake!

I seriously hope the new Centurions don't replace Long Fangs. They haven't grown on me yet but maybe in the future they will.

Don't get your hopes up. Just because our brother astartes get them, it doesn't mean we will also. I don't see centurions being in a future SW codex. Doesn't seem appropriate with the fighting style of the rout. It's only common sense, some chapters will retain their own identity while others will stay unique like our wolves with their own strengths and weaknesses.

....leave the wish-listing for the whelps and let the greybeards study/analyze the new SM codex for: what may or could be signs of things to come for our own future codex.

Things really start getting repetitive and almost pathetic when people start wanting/whining about things they don't have. Grow up and deal with it. Endure and adapt or play a different army that have those shiny new toys. Our chapter has endured through the years, only the hardcore stay true to Fenris.

Or you take allies. So sayest the rule book.
LOL aye, that too. Unless you're like me having a second army that are also Space Wolves, as is my third and forth. The only army I've had, the only army I'd play.

well what ever happens in the next codex i hope it puts an end to the whining about how great our GH and long fangs are for their price. even had a player telling me how awesome Bjorn the fell handed is. kinda sick of hearing about it.

P.S give me back my LR Exterminator or the kitty gets it.

Seeing as I've had these ideas kicking around in my head for a bit, may as well share them. Who knows. Maybe one the designers for our next Codex is reading this. LOL!!! Several of you have talked about having a Ven. Dreadnaught as an HQ again so how about something called an Ancient One-can be any type of standard Dread out of the Codex, one only per army & cannot be the Warlord. Seeing as as he is an Ancient One from the long ago days, he  can have access to the Conversion Beamer Makes use of our expanded HQ slots but kinda of limited. For Wolf Guard, seeing as they currently have access to Jump Packs, allow them the ability to assault from Deep Strike. I mean really. If the Wolf Guard are the best fighters in the Great Company, surely they are brave enough, daring enough & hot blooded enough not only to put on the jump pack but make the most use of it!??!!?!?! Saga of the Pouncing Wolf--allows character & any unit he is with to charge off the Deep Strike/Reserve. Maybe make this available to WGBL with a limit of one per army seeing as they want to limit this kind of thing( at least till Bugs gets redone then look out). Wolf Tail Talisman-Deny the Witch on a 5+(think maybe someone came up this already--if so, sorry, didn't mean to steal the idea).

On a different note, if GW decides to give us a wolfed up version of the Centurions, please change the cc option. They look sad IMO. LOL!!!

Yeah. Gotta agree. I love my TWC & even have a few conversions that are almost the size of Rhinos(actually comparable to Canis) but really. Nothing bigger. If I wanted something like that I would play Orks. A big @##$#@@#$ Squiggoth. But I'm not playing Orks.
