DIY Blood Angels - Japanese Inspired Rising Suns

You can get as creative as you want so long as your opponent knows what your figure counts as.  When I use a Dante analog, I use the guy in my profile picture, courtesy of a commission from a friend.  My Sanguinary Phalanx is greek themed, so that's where the iconography and head draw their inspiration.

I don't know where you are with the fluff for these guys, but I definately agree with the non ghost DC. It makes perfect sense for them to paint their armour white in symbolism of being prepared for burial, they know they're going to die. Very ritualistic, very japanese.

In terms of modelling, don't know if anyone suggested it but I've seen a few themed armies with those japanese style banners (the pole to one side ones?) which look very cool.

Just found a conflict in the DA codex.

"Legends state that a band of Deathwing returned to the recruiting world of their birth only to find their people enslaved to Genestealer invaders. The brethren repainted their armour, symbolising that they were dead men walking, ghosts setting out on a death-quest. " - page 19

So the idea has been done before, which can mean you either follow in their example which is precedent, or find a new gimmick to represent. Either way, the DW is proof that at one point GW may have had the same idea and opted not to let their fluff get convoluted with literal ghosts.

Right I have decided to change my chapter logo without going overboard on the japanese theme - while still having the element of blood angels in it.

Also I want to think of a name change for this chapter - any ideas. I just dont fancy the idea of rising suns - especially if i am going to change my logo.

I was thinking something like blood drops - to do with the falling cherry blossom trees in Japan - it could also do something with the fluff :P

Thanks, any C&C is appreciated :)

Ok I will keep the idea of the suns, but I want to add an element of blood to it as well.  Something like the Sons of Blood maybe?

Also I have been working on an IA for my chapter - and this is my first effort and it is a WIP so please be nice :P

Origins

The xxx are part of the twenty-eight founding of the Adeptus
Astartes, and are known between the High Lords of Terra as a chapter that gives
great reverence to their culture and traditions that has been in existence since
the beginning of space exploration carried out by humans many millenniums ago.

The xxx are from the planet of Nippon, located on the
Eastern Fringe near the Alaitoc Craftworld. They are the descendants of one of
the earliest human races to go into space and have lived here in a peaceful
state with no-interference, since they are hidden in a cluster of swirling
planets that orbit a star similar to the one in the system of Terra.

Conditions here are similar to Terra but warmer and unlike
the destruction back home, their world was pure and untouched by the terrors of
war. That was until they were attacked by the mysterious Dark Eldar on the eve
of a symbolic festival that has been passed down from generations beyond what
records are left on Terra, the Dance of the Samurais. A distress beacon was
sent out which was caught by the passing fleet of Thunderhawk Gunships of the
Angels Sanguine Chapter. Through their excellence in the art of war and their
intellect in technology – the people were able to fend of the Dark Eldar until
the Angels of Sanguinius dropped from the sky, beating the remaining Dark Eldar
forces. The people of Nippon, had hardly seen any beings as mighty as the Space
Marines.

Seeing that mankind lived here, the Angels contacted the
high lords of Terra to fulfil what the Emperor of Mankind so desired before he
was mortally wounded by the Warmaster Horus, to renuite mankind.

Learning about their skills in the Art of War, the samurai
leaders from the different clans were called to a meeting by the High Lords of
Terra where they were asked to join forces in order to protect themselves from
the evils of the 41st Millenium.

They too like their ‘parent’ chapter – the Angels Sanguine
have been flawed by the gene-seed of Sanguinius. Though this faint image of a
golden warrior is unheard of in their culture, the process of developing a Space Marine, especially

with the gene-seed of Sanguinius caused terrors in the dreams of the young men that underwent the process of change from a samurai force

to one of the mightiest close-combat chapters of the Imperium of Man.
