spu00sed
I purchased a pack of jet bikes when I went. Warhammer world or invasion this week, and I fell in love with them. I am now thinking about a jet bike command squad Praetor Mater crafted Paragon blade Digital weapons Melta bombs Iron halo Jet bike 5 strong command squad power spears Melta bombs Combat shields Jet bikes Comes in at 645pts Damage output 18 relentless heavy bolter shoots On the charge 5 S5 AP2 attacks at WS6 20 S5 AP3 attacks at WS5 With a 2+\6(5)++ save (4++ on be praetor) They will be hitting most mimes on 3s and wounding them on 3s. With 6 melta bombs as well, only terminators don't need to worry about them. Will they be any good, or only look really cool in lance formation? TheForgottenAngel
They're amazing! Having used them as my go two praetor escort and counter Death Star, they've won me 3 games single handedly. Granted they are extremely expensive you get what you pay for. I don't use the combat shields as they are T5 and are quite resilient without them. They only limitation is the lack of special weapons the Sky Hunters unit can take; a part from their cost which often make difficult to include them in your armies (at least that's what happened to me several times ) However if you find the points available they are truly amazing. I have a Praetor on Jetbike with Paragon Balde and Thunder Hammer (I know may say TH is useless on Praetor but I found it quite effective. Beside: rule of cool ; ) who will get a command squad on jet bike next time I place a FW order. One day I'll field even a sky hunter unit for some jet bikes spam fun.. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/273801-jet-bike-command-squad-any-good/#findComment-3344702 Share on other sites
spu00sed
What weapon and warhead do you take on the command squad, and what squads do you take in support? Cmdr Shepard
What weapon and warhead do you take on the command squad, and what squads do you take in support? The command squad jetbikes cannot upgrade their heavy bolter to one of the "special weapons". Are asking about the Command Squad melee weapons of choice? TheForgottenAngel
I keep them with bolt pistols and powerswords since they are mainly going after the enemy's troops, thats just me though. Coopervisor
After seeing some Jetbikes in the flesh at the open day, I'm considering a Praetor + Command squad on jetbikes, but when I was looking over the Heresy, it specifies that where a Power Weapon is mentioned, it can be taken as a Sword, Axe or Mace. There is no mention of Power Lance, until the wargear section, where it's under the list of things to refer to the main rulebook on. I guess there's no reason you couldn't take them as it's not exactly overpowered, but just something I noticed. If you're spending this many points on a single squad (i'm also thinking of adding a Primus Medicae to the command squad), then what else would your army need to have to round it out? TheForgottenAngel
Well this works best with drop pod armies to support their advance, artillery from medusas, or air support. Tanks supported by infantry are nice, my favorite is to have vindicatiors with 20man legion marine squads. The vindicators will also draw firepower from your Death Star jetbike unit I use a Shock and Awe tactic with my jetbikes by sprinting my marines up with the vindicators, then have my jetbikes move up behind cover. That limits the amount of real estate he has to work with, sure ill be shot up but that's why the squads are 20 deep! The vindicators will get cover saves thanks to the marines. My 2nd turn I shoot everything with Fury of the Legion, big pie plates and jetbikes clear out the juicier bits left! With this I usually run a storm eagle for anti tank or put in heavy support squad.
