I've started on the Sorcerer, just blocking in colors for the most part.

There are two passes of highlights on the red, I still need to do some edge work I think.

I've added a Daemon Prince to my army. I had it originally for my Warriors of Chaos army, but it wasn't Tzeentch enough... So I changed its head, added the Jason Mask from the Defiler kit. It's now my new Daemon Prince of Khorne.

I need a way to Khorne it up some more however...

Khornify the Daeomn Prince? Skull trophies, Mark of Khorne painted on his forehead, blood dripping out of mouth vents, paint red/bone/brass.

Stick a zombie head with some mechanical gubbins between the guns, not just a radar dish. :P

Part of the reason I've kind of stopped modeling and painting is that I've been having some trouble with my vision... Every time I try to paint or model anything with small details I lose focus and I get a headache soon after... So, I decided to see if that was still going on after a break... I've been itching to get back to it (plus I have two commissions I really need to finish) but I didn't know how. So, after I reworked my Daemon Prince for my Crimson Slaughter Chaos Marines, I figured I might as well go big as far as painting. Maybe a larger model with bigger details would help..

Well, it did help... But only in as much that it took longer for my eyes to go wonky and the headache to appear... So, I guess I need to have my eyes checked after all...

Anyway, here is the progress I have so far. I am just blocking in colors... This is NO WHERE near done... But you can at least see where it is going.

I've added a few things to the Chaos Quadgun (more of a doubles).

I'm probably going to rework some bits here and there. I do like the Warriors of Chaos Chariot grill in front.

Yeah , I agree!! Freak sweet Quad gun!! I'm going to have to pick up that army builder red primer for me WB's!! Thanks for the tip.

Looking good so far!! Everybody is so much faster than I am at building models. Kudos to you Gratan!!

End of Line

I love this project.

The Crimson Slaughter are a project I teetered on doing and heavily contemplated against my Red Corsairs. Huron won the day for me but I often consider going back to a slightly easier concept with Crimson Slaughter.

They have so much potential and are open to so many playing possibilities (even if they are Khornate skewed). Plus they look stunning on the tabletop. I love what you've done here. Great work.

I'm sorry to hear about your eyes. Hopefully it is something easily corrected. I hope you can continue on with the project, even in small chunks.

Love the project so far!

Thanks all. The Quad isn't quite done yet. I'm waiting on a bitz order to chaosify it some more. I'll post when it's fully assembled.

@Rune_Priest The Army Painter colored primers are glorious! Been a great time saver! And now with their Warpaints line and matching bottle paints, it's even better!

My color for the CS is: Dragon Red base coat I then made my own red wash using one of my last bottles of Baal Red mixed with some Badab Black, and just a few drops of GW Black Ink (I still have some remaining from the set I bought in the mid 90s). I tried just Baal Red and it was the same color almost as the Dragon Red... Didn't shade a thing... With the Black in it, it darkened really nicely. I just wish I had written down the exact formula...

Once its been washed, I then start building highlights with Pure Red. I don't do a lot of highlighting personally.

I will then touch the very highlighted areas with a very thing layer of Lava Orange. For a darker red you can easily skip the Lava Orange.

(Dragon Red, Pure Red, and Lava Orange are Army Painter Warpaints colors)

@Prot I came close to going Red Corsairs as I am a fan of them as well. I wanted to use the Dark Vengeance models, and didn't want to really change anything. Plus, I kind of like the Crimson Slaughter fluff a lot.

I should have another update on the Daemon Prince by this weekend.

That looks deadly. Can see why your working on the base with the gun looking so dam good.

The base has me completely stumped... I don't know what to do for it... The standard base is just not chaosy enough to fit my vision... Or to fit in with the gun itself...

I'm almost at a point of scrapping the whole project and doing something else for the Quadgun...

You could try getting some Necron bits and creating a "walking" base for it. Cut off the torso portion from something like this and create a spider like base? Just an idea, would definitely be pretty chaotic that way.

These are looking pretty darn good, buddy!

I love the quad-gun. It looks so silly when chaos (or even xenos) players just plop down an out-of-the-box imperial gun emplacement or bastion to use. It's awesome that you've taken the time to really make it your own.

Secondly, something small, but I *love* the fleshy tones you have going. Like the little bird arms on the sorceror's backpack. They look absolutely disgusting (in a good way!). Is the daemon prince's flesh going to look something similar?

Perhaps something to support the quad gun, akin to the bracers on the new Hunter/Stalker kit?? Hydrolic looking limbs that come out of the bottom, like a crane uses for support...

Should the DP have the same Fleshy tones? I wasn't planning on it, it would look darker than what it is now, but still remain Leathery. Should I use the same fleshy as the Sorcerer? I'm using that Fleshy on all the fleshy bits on the DV models, so it would fit in. I just don't know how big a difference it will look on such a massive scale compared to the small fleshy bits on the DV models.

I'm working on something with Legs, though I need to wait until I can make a Bits order.

The basic color blocks are looking pretty good. What's your shading plan - washes/inks?

Yup, washes, though some things like the bone will get very thin glaze of Chestnut ink then highlighted and then a final wash of Soft Tone from Army Painter. The Fleshy bits will match those found on the Sorcerer above. Other than the red and Gold, the flesh tones will be army wide as well. I'm really happy how those come out.

Very clean, can't wait for more layers. What's the plan for the trim iconography on the cloak?

The Icon design on the cloak? I honestly hadn't gotten to that point in decision making yet... I was "thinking" maybe a yellow? But I don't know.
