Captain Idaho
Interesting report mate. 6th edition does have a large amount of book keeping which is annoying for me because I have less inclination and opportunity to learn everything and therefore there's a greater chance of me getting blind sided and potentially even stitched up by the less scrupulous opponents out there. Giga
Frankly, the more I play 6th ed, the more I feel 5th was just a better system overall. While I enjoy the addition of fliers & more variety in armies, it just plain breaks balance to the point where some battles are almost impossible to win/lose. The only times I really feel a game is open-ended and skill-reliant is when I play against MEQ (except ofc necrons, don't stand a chance against them). Captain Idaho
Maybe. But the Codex books you're having trouble with are all outdated and due for an update. The updates are coming fast too. If you consider DA vs Daemons vs Tau (Chaos Marines with Daemons allies are quite good too) then you've got some balanced Codex books in comparison to 5th edition. Have faith all will come good! Polythemus
Giga you always seem to post quality. I feel like your first game was a bit unlucky with regards to nid zilla. You also have very little long range shooting to threaten those tervigons which were your main prob, if they are allowed to pump out tons of guants its gonna be a rough day. As for demons i dont know if these were the new demons or the old codex, but i can only imagine they were new. If you could game plan for this army would you have brought a stormtalon? I wish you better fortune against future opponents. Giga
Me and the opponent sat after the game and talked it out a bit. We agreed that my list really wasn't suited to fight this, and that it would require a far shootier list to deal with it. Basically, this is roughly my dream all-comers list that I feel would do really well vs this nid list (and most other lists I face): Libby /w nullzone & avenger Company Command Squad /w autocannon Tac squad /w plasma combiplasma missile las/plas razor Tac squad /w plasma combiplasma missile las/plas razor Platoon Command Squad /w 4x flamer & chimera Infantry Squad /w autocannon Infantry Squad /w autocannon 5-6 hammernators (or another tac squad) stormraven Auto-las predator Auto-las predator Manticore Aegis /w quad-gun As for the daemons, it was a new dex. It wasn't a strong list, just a flier gimmick + the guy seized initiative which prevented me from shooting him up on first turn (flying MCs can't start in flying mode unless they arrive from reserve, so with searchlights all they get is a 5++ save). If I had the above all-comers list, I'm confident I could've beaten him even if he had seized the initiative. With first turn on my side, I'm pretty sure I would've been murdering 1-3 MCs per turn. Giga you always seem to post quality.Thanks. High quality, comprehensible, fun to read BRs are a big part of the hobby for me. :] Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/273842-two-tourney-battles-with-photos/#findComment-3346222 Share on other sites
