Any tips you can share for doing that kind of thing? Also, the parchment looks really decrepit and filthy. What was your method there, I'm guessing it's a brown wash over dheneb stone or something similar to it? winterdyne Posted April 9, 2013 Author Share Posted April 9, 2013 The trick to freehand is to remember you're painting, not drawing. Thin paint and multiple brush strokes to build a line or curve, don't try and do it in one pass. Here I used a mix of red and black. The parchment is a brown wash over something like khemri brown, then highlighted up with VMA sand. Final edges with VMC ivory.
