Having a hard time telling what is painted highlights and what is reflective lighting, which I suppose says a lot for your painting method smile.png

If it's all deliberate paint and no reflection, then bravo.

Thanks :D most of it is deliberate. I think, after looking at the model and then the pic, the part of the outstretched arm closest to the shoulder pad is a bit brighter due to the lamp but that's about it. just got a few glazes on the armour to smooth the blends a bit and then onto the face. not looking forward to that bit, really wish I hadn't assembled him before painting!

Wow, awesome blue dude. That must take a while.

And yeah, i kept this guy fully unn-assembled when painting him. Made it so much easier, haha. Could just pull him in half to get at his legs and etc.

Yeah the blue did take a while, still need to go over with some glazes to smooth it out a bit, it's a bit chalky looking up close. here's a quick update of tonights progress.

I put a baal red wash over the armour but sadly it wasn't thinned down enough. Can't really come back from a mistake like that unless I repaint it. Oh well, you live and learn :D

I thought it was about time to add something awesome. Myself and a few friends have decided to give ourselves a painting challenge to get ourselves 1000 pt playable and fully painted armies by the time Gamesday rolls around.

The challenge is based over here https://www.facebook.com/thegoldfishofjustice with Blindhamster and Lorenzen from B&C having done updates so far.

I don't think I've ever had a fully painted army, and this is the perfect opportunity. the challenge is for roughly 250 pts per month and as a mini challenge Lorenzen has decreed that we each get a sergeant finished by the end of the weekend, or face ridicule and disgrace biggrin.png

Here's my sergeant, he's finished, just needs edging on the base and then I can take some decent photo's.

It's about bloomin' time I resurrected this thread, commission work of a non space marine nature has kept me very very busy for the last few months and that lead to the demise of the 'tale of painters' style challenge. However, I'm taking the time to paint up something rather lovely as a prize to one of my followers on my facebook page (picked at random when I hit the magic '100' likes)

(supremely jealous of  the brush work and NMM on the Chaplain)

For the Sargent what did you do for the corroded brass- that blue ish color? I just never seem to get mine to look right

@kuchinawa: thanks :D if I remember correctly the corrosion on the brass was a mix of ork hide green and hawk turquoise gently washed in as a base and then a really really thin wash of hawk turquoise over the top.

@batu: thank you, got the gunmetal to do next which could be a challenge!
