The Wolves of Omn/ETL II Challenge

Got stuck in Mexico another night so haven't got any work done.  I might be taking part in an escalation campaign which is going to suit my building attitude this time around instead of trying to rush through a big army for a tournament.

Got home late tonight from Mexico and found a bits package with my set of Blood Talons to wolf up my vendread a bit. However after making the first Blood Talon, I was not impressed. So I used the hand option from the ven dread kit and the talons from my bits order and a bit more happy with how it came out;

Just roughed in now and in need of greenstuff to fill some gaps and clean up the connections.

Well got hung up on cleaning up my new dread ccw a little more and then started getting stuff of the SW sprues to wolf up the dread a bit more. Then I set about cleaning up some bits to make the following,

Wolf Standards x2

Power Axes x2

Gotta bore out the barrels and then ready for primer (heads and power packs done seperately).

I'll be watching this thread for sure! Everything looks great so far Brother Ramses! msn-wink.gif

Thanks Kas. I am taking a bit more time with this build then my old builds which is hopefully going to make for a better built and painted army. I am also pretty set on what I plan on doing with models as far a bits and custom work so I am not doing a ton of experimenting. The dread ccw was a bit of quick thinking, but it was just an improvement of an idea I already had regarding a more wolfy dccw.

I am trying to get 500pts together right now for an escaltion league that will help keep progress going.

Good to hear. Luckily I hadn't gotten to far into my army when i decided to take my time as well and customize them. Eventually the older stuff will be rotated out once I get some decent replacements. I really like the improved DCCW. Looks proper for a Wolf intombed in a Dreadnought. Goals are always a good idea to keep you focused. And at such a small points level keeps your enthralled on not get bored/exhausted. Good luck brother! msn-wink.gif

  • 2 weeks later...

Finally got one pack completely cleaned of mold lines and assembled minus bolters, backpacks, and heads.  If I didn't hate mold lines more then I hate scrapping mold lines, I would probably be done with this army....lol.  Pictures up tonight when I get back home.

Finally got some pics of the first GH pack done with pre-prime assembly. Still dealing with my camera phone and don't have a proper photo box yet.

GH Pack To Be Named Later:

So got a bit done this weekend besides being a fully packed weekend.

Two packs fully assembled and ready for prime minus heads, carried bolters, and backpacks.:

Gotta make a new paint box for priming sometime this week. My TWC also keep snapping off the resin bases or from their paws which is damn annoying so will have to pin them all this week which will be a PITA. Till next time.

How did you paint their armor I still can't figure out you did it...also did you get the axes off a bitz site?

They are not even primed yet.  I will hopefully be priming them this week sometime.

The axes were acquired from my LFGS when they had a weekend event where gamers can bring in their stuff and sell it for store credit.

See Brother Ramses is an intelligent soul who sees the potential in Fantasy bits.

All looking lovely sir

Yup, people like him and Maverick who inspire my own work a lot of times!

Alright Brother Ramses, lets see your brush work! msn-wink.gif

Hopefully primed tomorrow. My wife is going out of town for a couple of days which will allow me some uninterrupted Wolves time to get basecoats and washes done at least.

So all my plans of priming was shot down tonight due to my Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class went late tonight. I am not complaining because I was promoted to purple belt!!

5 1/2 years down so far and at least another 10 to go till black.....hahahaahah!

Started new army tonight so popped in 13th Warrior and then opened up a new SW battleforce, SM Tactical Squads x2, and a TWC pack. Also flipped open my digital wallet and ordered up SM Command Squad bits for Wolf Standards and a whole mess of resin bases from Secret Weapon Miniatures.

Too tired to put what I started up tonight, but will update in the morning.

So since I have only partially assembled by first 1000pts or so of my army as well as zero painting, I went ahead and vowed the entire lot of stuff I have for the ETL.  Here is to getting 2k points done by August.

For ETL purposes, here is what is assembled so far;

Here is what is pending to finish up my vow;

Some ETL Grey Hunters and WGPL primed and ready for basecoat, but forgot my new paints at home while house sitting so that will begin tomorrow.

I hate mold lines, but hate seeing them on my models after painting even more. This file kit is pretty pretty handy when used with a razor blade to make it a little easier.
