With the recent site upgrade, the ability to apply up to 10 tags to a topic provides the capability for members to identify related topics.

 

This topic is intended to provide a catalog of tags specifically for the games covered here in the Other Games forum. The reason for this is that a number of games use terms that are common in the WH40K game universe, so they might be used in other ways. Having a standardized set of tags specifically for their usages here in the Other Games forum provides us with better searchability. For example, "Deathwatch" means both the roleplaying game from FFG as well as the organization around which that game revolves. If we just used the tag "Deathwatch" we might find topics about both. So if we want to search only for topics about the roleplaying game, we need a specific tag. Other similar examples include "Space Hulk," "Inquisitor," etc.

 

This (first) post will comprise a listing of "acceptable" tags. If you have suggestions for additional tags, post replies here so that the members can discuss them and, if deemed acceptable, they will be added to this post.

 

If I ever figure out how to make the listing of tags clickable (i.e., you can click on a tag in this post and it will perform the tag search), I'll definitely add that functionality. For now, this listing merely serves as an index of tags that are suggested for use when posting topics.

 

Games are listed in bold and all caps. Tags are below them within parenthesis. I've used a couple of abbreviations:

• card games, including collectible card games, use "card"
• computer games use "comp"
• console games use "cons"
• computer & console games use "c/c"
• board games use "BG"
• roleplaying games use "RPG"
• Note that this is a work in progress, so it won't be complete for awhile. Also, the format is subject to change as things gel.

   

  Note that links go to the official site (if one exists) or to the listing at the Board Game Geek or Wikipedia. What I will probably do at a future date is create our own index of Games Workshop games (acceptable here at the B&C) so that we don't have to link to external sites.
