j-smuv
Ok, so I made some progress with my LPC vow and that's made me hungry for a completely painted army. So I decided to try and keep the ball rolling with a log of progress. Basically public accountability to keep me on task. I hope it works. . . I had previously posted my JP Librarian and 3 of my JP Death Company. I have finished the rest of the squad, and want to share. http://www.mdwargaming.com/images/dc4.jpg http://www.mdwargaming.com/images/dc5.jpg http://www.mdwargaming.com/images/dc6.jpg http://www.mdwargaming.com/images/dc7.jpg http://www.mdwargaming.com/images/dc8.jpg http://www.mdwargaming.com/images/dc9.jpg I need to get some ASM and a JP Sanguinary Priest painted up next. I'll post them when I'm done. For the ASM, I wanted to go with the more "codex" look of x'ed arrows. I have a double-flamer Sargeant I've been dying to paint up too. For the SP I'm excited to try a new white technique I learned from I Am Legion here on B&C. I hope I do the technique justice.
MadGreek
I like them. Good highlights and shading. Why did you not use color on the "leg cords" of some of them? Just wondering.
j-smuv
@madgreek: I left the horizontal cords black because I don't like how they cut the leg in two. I figure they can have some black chords as well as red, and black won't draw more attention than they deserve at table-top distance.
MadGreek
Ok, cool. Was wondering is all. Still think they look really good.
j-smuv
Ok, so the ETL got my painting spirits going again. But I was currently knee deep in a 10 man assault squad. So, I hurried up and finished them. It's amazing what a little motivation can do. I had been running these guys grey for a while (I know, I know. . .). And I'm very excited to have them done. This First Shot is one with the Sergeant facing forward. He has a magnetized combat shield I'm pretty proud of. The classic hand flamers are in kind of a Bond pose too. http://www.mdwargaming.com/images/assaultsquad1.jpg Here's one with the Sergeant turned away so you can see the shield. http://www.mdwargaming.com/images/assaultsquad2.jpg Now I can focus on ETL. . . j-smuv
I j-smuv answer the call of E TENEBRAE LUX and vow to complete a Stormraven Gunship (HurBolters, Cyclone, Plasma Cannon); a Vindicator (seige shield, HKM); a 5 man stock standard ASM squad; and a LRCrusader (MM) from the Blood Angels codex. Additionally, I vow to complete a Death Storm Drop Pod (AC) from FW Imperial Armor Apocalypse Second Edition. Total value 875 and will be completed on or before August 15th. Success will bring eternal glory to the Lamenters and thereby the entire Sanguinary brotherhood and failure will doom me to bear the Badge of Shame until the year-end Begin ETL vow work: Ok, so I figured I'd start out with the part of my ETL vow I'm most dreading and work my way down to the fun stuff. I had been wanting to make a Death Company Storm Raven for a while. I also figured I'd try an unusual loadout: Hurricane Bolters, Cyclone Missles, and Plasma Cannons. Here's the bare bones raven: I'll post progress as it gets completed. http://www.mdwargaming.com/images/dcraven01.jpg
