Help! How to Equip: Justaerin

What do you guys think? I need help on working on my wargear loadout.  I want it to be my next purchase from FW, but I want to be sure what I'm buying is the best.

Do you think 10 member squads are good?

Heavy Flamer, Reaper Autocannon, or Multi-Melta?

Combi-Weapons? My thoughts are no.

Power fists, Lightning Claws, or a Chainfist?

Pair of Lightning Claws?

Do you guys like the Justaerin power axes? I just need some more opinions. Any help would be appreciated!

I prefer the squad size of 5, because they are so expensive. However, I could see taking 10 in a big or theme list.

Axes are pretty cool looking, but claws let you take advantage of the Merciless Fighters special rule. You need a mix. You don't want to roll up against Deathshroud and let them take their armor saves.

Do you need them to be capable to fulfilling a broad spectrum of roles or are there any functions you intend to cover with other units, eg do they need to do long range anti armour, close range anti armour, shooty anti-infantry or face PA infantry and other Termies in close combat or all of the above?

If you could let us know how you intend to fit them into your army, we may be able to give more specific advice. :)

Kind regards,

A ten man squad will help you make it across the field and will be pretty awesome in CC, but will be quite a points sink.

On weapons, given your targets and that meltas are pretty weak against Spartans etc., the heavy flamer will probably be the more useful.

A chain fist would be good for AT and I prefer claws for the rerolls and getting to use their normal I.

A suggestion would be to start with 5 with a heavy flamer, a chain fist and a lightening claw, and leave the other two with basic load outs.

I like the idea of a ten man squad in future lists with Horus, but I'll only run 5 with Abaddon right now. I eventually want to run them in a Spartan in bigger point games.

Meltas weak against Spartans? You only need a 4+ to glance/penetrate, and I plan on getting up close and personal honestly; so with that extra D6, I don't think armor penetration will be a problem.

The only way I can get normal Initiative step is if I take all swords or lightning claws, which I find not cool. I like the axes, because they'll kill marines outright. Even though they are at Initiative 1, I rather have the axes. I'm trying to be cost effective too,  I don't have a lot of cash.

I'm not sure Justaerin are the best delivery method for MM to take out a Spartan.  You'd have to kill it when you drop in with Abaddon, otherwise you're going to get your small squad lascannoned to death and then mopped up from whatever is in the Spartan.

I need to get more games in with them, but I might be inclined to add one more TLC to Durfast's mix just to get more wounds on a squad.

Strength 8 against armour 14, so 6s to glance.

Add the Armoured Ceramite option (which everyone I know adds at a bargain @ 20 pts) to take away the additional D6, and the Flare Shield to wipe 1 off the strength (another favourite @ 25 pts). So strength 7 against armour 14 with only 1 D6.

Fully tooled Spartans (which at the norm) laugh at melta weapons ...
