Basing scales

Recommended Posts

Some 1/35th-scale military accessories work fine with GW models, others will look very out of scale. Plastic sandbag sets are best avoided, if you ask me, for several reasons: one is that the bags tend to be on the large side even for the scale they're supposed to be (1/35th in this case), while another is that they hardly ever look realistic (a wall made of them will look a bit like someone piled bags of already-set concrete on top of each other). Last but not least, sandbag walls are very easy and cheap to make out of self-hardening clay such as DAS, which will allow you to make walls in any shape and size you like, and they'll look much more realistic to boot.

I found a site that sells cloth sandbags that you can use to make your own sandbag wall from

These? TBH, they seem rather pointless to me … self-hardening clay or epoxy putty will get you sandbags that will look more realistic smile.png

However cool - realism isn't essential in that regard, it just has to look the part. Echo the sentiments for clay or putty, and you can just put sand around them to look like some have split.
