My list has slowly been changing from LRCs/Assault Termis to more shooting oriented in an attempt to stay competetive in the world of 6th. I still have some purchases to make, but I was very pleased that my new tweaks paid off. My buddy was also toying around with his new DA allies, but it was a solid matchup and I was definitely dipping into some BT cheese. I usually have pics, but my phone is broken 1850 Big Guns, Hammer and Anvil Black Templars 1850: EC w/AAC MoS w/ ArtArm, BP, Fist, Ceno x3 10 Ini/10 Neos, Axe, Flamer, Free Frags! 5 Ini, Las, Plas (behind Aegis) 5 Ini, ML, Plas (Lasback) Termis, CML x2, Tank Hunt (manning Quad) Ven Dread, TLLC, ML, Tank Hunt (behind Aegis) Typhoon, MM Typhoon, MM Predator, LC Stormtalon, Skyhammer Aegis w/ Quad Buddys IG was something like....A huge infantry blob squad w/ Autocannons (behind Aegis), DA Libby leading them, a squad on the Quad Gun, a squad each in two Chimeras (one with Psyker), Russ Demolisher, Manticore, 10 man DA Tac Squad, Ven Dread w/ PlasCan, and two Vendettas (whichever is the LC version). Im still learning their units, but the Libby buffs on the huge blob squad were ABSURD. My home table is a ruin and a hill, one on each side, corresponding opposite sides. So hill on my left side, building on right, same on his side. Kill zone in the middle. We each placed our objectives next to the hills and extended the Aegis off the hills; his was a line across and mine encircled it. Objective in the middle of the board. My turn, Dread, Termis, and a Crusader squad hang out in the Aegis. Typhoons and Lasback hang back, Pred creeps up behind cover. Black Tide starts running. Dread immobilizes one Chimera, Tank Hunting Termi Quad Gun immobilizes the other. Both Typhoons spam frags on the dirty DA witch. He saves but loses a Sarge and Comms Guy. His turn, Manticore kills a couple shooty Crusaders in the Aegis. Quad takes out a Speeder. Russ moves up. Autocannons wipe a couple Neos, Black Tide gets pissed and starts their Zeal towards the front line. My turn, Black Tide moves into charge position. Pred moves out of cover and blows the Demolisher off the Russ. Talon comes in and I fly it behind my building to block LoS on the Interceptor Quad shot. Not that it matters....because my Termi Quad destroys his Quad Gun . Remaining Typhoon puts a Frag into the blob and wipes a couple Guard out. Lasback creeps up a bit eyeing the midfield objective. Black Tide charges and hits like a Mack Truck; EC challenges, Sarge accepts and becomes a red mist. The remaining Chappy and 8 Initiates (had a BRUTAL Overwatch thanks to the Psyker buffs for rerolling misses) kill maybe 12-14 Guard. Libby gives the Know No Fear and they stay locked in. His turn. Both flyers come in, hit the middle of the board. Quad blows two hull points off the nearest one on Intercept. His Drop Pod Dread comes in, lands inside my Aegis, kills a couple Termis with the Plasma Cannon. DA Tac squad Pods in, tries to kill my Quad Gun and fails. His two Infantry squads stranded in the Chimeras get out, ready to blast the Black Tide when they inevitably wipe the blob squad and filthy witch. Speaking of which, they wipe the blob down to maybe 4-5 Guard and the Libby on assault phase. They still stay locked in. My turn. Talon turns 90, flys over the building into the face of the undamaged Valk. Lasback rolls ALMOST onto objective (the idea is to hop out and hide behind it). Quad blows up the first Valk. Talon whiffs the Skyhammers but gets a lucky Rend on the AssCan. Valk gets Vector Locked. Bye bye! Typhoon shoves a MM up the DA Dreads ass, bye bye. Crusader squad in the Aegis sprays the DA Tac Squad and they lose a few men. We pretty much called it here, and he conceded defeat. We both admitted it was gonna be a dice game at that point, but it was 3am at this point. The Termis on the Quad were the stars of the game here; will be even better when I ditch the Black Tide, swap the Chappy for a TDA Marshall, and run a Command Squad. BS5 Tank Hunter Quad Gun? Soon to run a Pred/Vindi combo, and perhaps swap the two Typhoons out for another Talon. More next time....with pics! Just tuck it in the squad until they Zeal off of it, but it should have cover long enough to get in range. Just tuck it in the squad until they Zeal off of it, but it should have cover long enough to get in range. Vindicators are ace, I got two of them in my army. My army also consists of 2 drops with Crusaders, 15 terminators (With missiles or Assault cannons). Can you imagine a 50-man IG blob with that, or even a 20+ BT blob unit? Nuts! The power field generator only works within 3" of the model carrying it, so covering a huge blob with it won't work that well. In CC units it works even less, because it also gives the save to the enemy. Azrael's Lion Helm, on the other hand, gives the 4++ to the entire unit regardless of how far spread out it is.
