Source of animosity.....

....between the Sons of Russ and the Adeptus Sororitas?  My memory and search-fu is letting me down with this.  Nothing major, just trying to find a source/resource for this information for a project of mine.  Thanks in advance.

Quote from the Lexicanum page for Space Wolves: http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Space_Wolves#Post-Heresy

886.M41 - The Ecclesiarchy arrives at Fenris to investigate a claim of their worship of pagan gods. The Space Wolves orbital defenses fire upon the Ecclesiarchy vessel, chasing it away. Almost a year later, an Ecclesiarchy fleet and three Orders of the Adepta Sororitas attempt to land on Fenris by force. A three-week war erupts before the Ecclesiarchy decides to withdraw.

Not sure if there's still animosity from that though.

The Church- of wich the Soritas are the militant arm- and the Wolves do not get along on most things. Seeing as how the church has assaulted the fang itself - during the age of apostacy- and the general perversion of the emperors will they represent... no, the SW and the church dont get along well.

That being said, exactly how direct or even accurate this animosity is will depend on your wolf lord. None of them are going to cow-tow to the eclesiarchy, at the same time a particular Wolf Lord might respect a Cannoness for her tactical skills, or simply respect the forces as allies serving under the banner of the emperor. IE its damned unlikely that a SW is going to take out a bolt pistol and remove a sisters head under any but the most dire of 'theyve betrayed us!' circumstances. That doesnt make us bosom buddies either though.

Yeah, Blood of Asaheim seems to be the beginning of a series to me.

If there is a next book it will get more into SWs vs Inquisition/Ecclesiarchy/Soritas...at least that's my theory. I mean, it certainly seemed like that unholy triumverate had a SWs hit list and the reason whatshername burned all of their records was because they were keeping info on their shadow war there.

I had read somewhere (probably on his blog or twitter) that Blood of Asaheim is suppose to be a trilogy.

I appreciate the input.  I forgot to mention that I am aware of the general msgivings between the Ecclesiarchy and the Astartes based on ideological grounds and fundamental beliefs.  Probably moreso with certain Chapters like the SW due to their feral aspects, and the BA and BT for their perspectively more distateful ritualistic aspects.

I have the Blood of Asaheim in my queue.  Trying to finish the Eisenhorn Omnibus right now.

So it appears that the majority of the animosity is due to the incident of the Age of Apostacy then.  I have no doubts or misgivings about the SW being able to fight along side the Sororitas in defese of the Imperium of Man.  Just the generalities of the mistrust and potential grudge between the two entities is what I was looking for.   Will have to put the project on hold until I can get through all the reading.  Will bump up Asaheim to being next after Eisenhorn.

Thanks all.  Round of Ales on me for the assistance.

I think Bjorn the Fell-handed summed it up in The Emperor's Gift "God Emperor? Calling him a god was how all this mess Started". Why would the Sons of Russ, trust the Ecclesiarchy? The Vlka Fenryka are one of the few still left in the Imperium that still know the truth and history of what the Emperor really wanted for mankind. It was not the bureaucratic waste it has come to be,,, worship of machines and the forced worship of the Emperor, and the Inquisition killing off those who know the truth of stray from their heretical dogma...
