AekoldHelbrass
Do you find any Rites of War useful or interesting for you? I'm waiting for infantry kits for Sons of Horus to start full HH army, and can't decide where to start. For Sons of Horus, should I do rhino rush (without rites) or full drop, or pride of the Legion? Don't see other rites as particularly useful. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/274135-rites-of-war-which-one-is-your-favourite/ Share on other sites
Arachnid99
I see Rites of War more as a way to make fluffy armies work than anything else. For example Pride of the Legion allows you to represent a Legions Praetorians/First Company or Angels Wrath letting you do an Blood Angels Assault Company. I think Heresy armies should be more fluff centric than 40k armies and the hopefully going to be expanded Rites of War really let you have fun. Reasonable Commissar
So far Ive only used Pride Of The Legion, Id try the others but find them too restrictive. I like that veteran tac squads are like 40k tac squads with a heavy and special weapon but they are really expensive. jeremy1391
Pride of the legion!!!! Vets are nasty! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/274135-rites-of-war-which-one-is-your-favourite/#findComment-3352857 Share on other sites
A D-B
Pride of the Legion seems intensely lethal by comparison to the others. I like most of them a lot, and Angel's Wrath tempts me, but the troop limitations with that one are pretty tough to swallow. Lore-wise, it makes a lot of sense, but I'm just not cut out to build a Storm Eagle for every squad that would otherwise have a Rhino. my club-fisted hobbying would annihilate that dream before it got off the ground. Massaen
I run my worldeaters with the drop assault (drop pod) rites of war... a little restrictive but very thematic! mysteriousmaskedmystery
the drop pod one is required to take pods, isn't it? so like, if you want any, you have to take them all in pods? makes more sense i guess. it's also cool that rights of war only affects your main detachment, or the allies, like, you could take a small allied unit and take your main detachment in pods, sort of like they are coming to the rescue of their allies. i love the flying one. very, very expensive, but flyer overload could be pretty brutal, unless your opponent takes like, 3 hyperios or something crazy. AekoldHelbrass
Yea, I agree that flying one sounds good, but it is both expensive and hard to transport, and also it's not Sons of Horus way. For now I've decided to go with the army that will fit into both Orbital Assault and Pride of the Legion. 10 models Cataphractii to hold home objective, 10 models Justaerin, everything else will got into 5 Drop Pods because Battlefoam has a tray for 5 pods. It will be a good start for Orbital Assault, and then only few additions to make it Pride of the Legion.
