spjaco
Is it possible to use self adhesive decals instead of the water slide transfers? If so where would you go to get the adhesive paper? Would a good printer be able to handle it? Grimtooth
Gonna have to be very small and hopefully adhere to the paint without damaging it or just falling off. Greylocke
If you're having issues with water slide transfers you should check two products, one called micro set, the other micro sol. Micro set softens the decal and allows it the smoothly curve to rounded shapes without folding or crumpling. Micro sol is a solvent that bonds the decal to the paint under it almost like it's been painted on. It also removes that shiney decal sheen that looks so bad. Both are fairly inexpensive and easy to use. Forté
Practice with the waterslide ones that you don't like on a left over piece of mini. Self adhesive ones will likely be a bit on the thick side. Max_Dammit
I have access to a vinyl cutter at work and made my own decals using black car vinyl. i'v pushed it as small as can be and works great, but alas not something most people got access to . Greylocke
Thanks for the advice brothers. I cant wait to try these ideas out. Is Micro Set and Micro Sol available at Micheals stores or ??? I'm not sure about Micheals, I don't have one near me. I've ordered it on-line before straight from Micro-scale industries and also from Amazon. I've also have my FLGS order me the Testors version that works just as well. If you have a model train store close to you they normally have it on the shelves. It's used heavily by train folk to make professional looking decorations on their engines and box cars. Some advice from experience, when you're using these products is to have a brush that you mark out just to be used for them. You can't clean all the solvent out and it might mess with some of your paint later if you re-use the same brush. There's lots of awesome u-Tube tutorials out there too.
