Wolf_Pack's Blood Angels - Conversions and Kit Bashes

Recommended Posts

Love this! I'm thinking of picking up the same Forge World model and doing something similar for a Death Company version as well. Been buying lots of DA angel iconography off EBay for this purpose ;).

I hate to criticise any of your work... but it feels like the pose is a little static right now. Almost as if he is standing there and saying 'cup of tea anyone'? Or maybe just that's the Brit in me!

It's just that to me a DC dreadnought should be either 'come at me' or 'woops there goes your head'.

Likewise love the raised legs!

Looking good!  If you wanted to repose his legs, I place all my dreads legs in boiling water until the plastic is workable, then dip it in ice water after you've bent it a bit.  Works like a charm, never tried it with FW resin, but can't see it making any difference.

"Static" was my third thought.

The first thought was "at last!"

The second was "awesome!"

His pose suggests having come to a rest. Perhaps making the left arm look at the ready instead of hanging down. And maybe some spring in the legs.

The shoulders could use... maybe some epaulets like HH Terminator armor?

Those claws are finely articulated, reminds me of the wicked HH-era claws from the Chaos Lord kit.

I figured talongl like claws halfway inbetween the old black and white Nosferatu and Horus's talon.

I really like them for sure. Are you talking about chainmail hanging from the shoulders? That would be an awesome idea

Awesome thread and some gorgeous conversion work, Wolf Pack! This particularly caught my attention, and was wondering if you could share what parts went into this conversion? Can't seem to identify the body but it looks massive and imposing, as a terminator captain should be!

It's from an old third party. It was part of a failed attempt at modeling primarchs, this is Ferrus Manus. I got it in a trade sometime ago.

The shield is two wings back to back with the BA predator icon filed in.

The halberd is the Furioso force weapon. Since the body is bigger than most, I used power fists to act as standard gauntlets for proportion.

Well it looks incredible. Thank you for answer that question, I was wracking my brain but couldn't figure out where that body came from lol. Regardless, you did an amazing job with it, and I eagerly await to see whatever you go on to do from here!

Might be a while before I post anything, I am working on painting my trollbloods for a 50 point Steamroller event. That will take quite a bit! I would post the work here, but I am pretty sure that is grounds for Excommunicati Traitoris ;)

Your work is fantastic and inspirational! The only thing I'd do differently is if I were painting my Blood Angels so differently, I'd probably just amit that I was doing a successor... but who cares. These are brilliant. I will definitely be stealing your ideas.

The 3D tank murals are wonderful. I've thought of trying something similar a few times, but I figured it would be too much work. Looks like it really is, but then the payoff for you has been great thumbsup.gif

There's a lot of really inspired conversions throughout the thread, but those murals popped out at me (ha!) more than anything else.

Thank you all for the feedback ;)

Sorry to have abandoned this project, I am mostly confined to Horus Heresy these days. I am considering parting with my BA lot altogether at this point.

@ HEEMAN I used Asthorath's model, and cut the arms at the armpits linging up with the shoulder pad. This is only doable with a finecast model tough. Same with the legs, cut at the thigh junction. If you are refering to the base, I let it dry for a bit until it gets a little harder, dip my fingers in water and shape it with my thumb. Watering your fingers prevents you from leaving a finger print if you keep applying the pressure while moving. The Sword is from the Inquisitor miniature range.

Yeah, or the stuff on Heresy-era Terminator pads. Like so. Just something relatively simple to break up those blocks a bit, make them look more ornate while not overpowering.
